Positive points : Food quality is good. Staff are attentive and work fast. They refill the soup fast and brought an extra pair of chopsticks the moment they heard us accidentally dropping ours on the floor. Ventilation is good, air-cond is cold, thus the environment is nice and not stuffy despite all the cooking. Soup taste is strong.
Negative points : My main issue with my first experience here is that we were not aware that there is a time limit of 2 hours. The staff on duty at the entrance did not mention it to us upon entering, nor did we see it on the board outside. Eventually, the same staff from the entrance approached our table with the credit card reader and bill, then told us in an inconsiderate tone that we only have 4 minutes left to eat and we have to pay up now. We find it quite rude as if we were students sitting for an exam paper without knowing the duration or as if we were eating there for free. Plus, she could obviously see that we have quite an amount of unfinished food in the hotpot and some uncooked food at the side. As we tried to stuff down the food hurriedly, we noticed that after 4 minutes, the hotpot was automatically deactivated. We did not manage to cook a few remaining dishes. Now we are in fear of what if they charge us for food wastage. This honestly spoiled our first experience dining at Fei Fan towards the end. Just a suggestion to Fei Fan, please have your entrance staff kindly tell the customer about the 2 hour time limit upon their entry and about the automatic deactivation of the hotpot as not everyone is aware to question that point and not all hotpot buffets impose this (Wagyumore - unlimited time). It would be great if you train them to be more tactful with the way they communicate with customers as most of them seem to just be working like robots without any care whatsoever about the customer's dining experience. I feel the soup variety of Sukishi is better. Fei fan's pepper soup is too peppery for me and I had to change halfway to pork bone soup. The first staff that I asked said no changing but another staff said ok but just warned me that pouring in another soup base may alter the taste but I said I am...
Read moreIt was my first time and probably the last time visiting. Here are a few things that can be improved.
Service- The service was so so but the staff at this particular branch all seemed like newbies and are not too aware of a lot of things. I understand if you're new but at the very least we would expect a friendly attitude.
The meat choices- There was literally only ONE option for beef and the pork was also pretty meh. Having charged so much we at least expect one seafood option but the only "seafood" option we got was this fish paste noodle thing which was so underwhelming.
Soup base- I get it, mala and pork bone soups are popular and high demand. However the taste wasn't very impressive either. We ordered the pork bone soup and herbal soup and it taste like something we can make at home. What's the point of spending that much money if the soup base is gonna be mediocre?
Overall it was a meh experience and we were literally forcing ourselves to eat just so that we won't waste food and also get our money's worth. No enjoyment from it at all nor was there anything extraordinary about it. It's definitely not for me and my family that's for sure. We also didn't bother to approach the ice cream machine due to how disappointed we were...
Read moreIt might sound weird but it was my first time eating Chinese hotpot in Malaysia, and it was a very pleasant experience to me. We chose Mala and herbal soups, the Mala was too spicy for us, so we ended up just dipped and ate with the herbal. Still, I love both. There aren’t many choices on the buffet menu, pork, beef, chicken and homemade meatballs. But I think it’s more than enough for a normal meal, you need to pay extra for seafood. My favorite is the shrimp dumplings, and I could always eat more. Duck blood is also very tasty, chewy and no smell at all. For buffet you can also choose veggies from the line, free drink (lemon, peach tea, and water). They also have ice cream, but just normal to my opinion. What I’d like to see improvement is the staff attitude. I think Chinese waitresses are students (because they look young?!), but they only seemed friendly, smiley and talky with Chinese customers. I and my friend (Indian) don’t speak the language, so maybe hard to communicate? Also, it would be nice if the foreign staff ask customers before they turn down the heat. They always turn it down if the soup is low ☹️. So minus 1 star for the ,not so...
