This might be the worst experience in the food industry I’ve ever had. We got a classic Kofola and a spoiled Birell beer. It took about 20 minutes to serve one draft beer in an empty restaurant, so I already knew something was off and indeed, it was barely drinkable. I ordered a schnitzel with rough mashed potatoes and bacon. The waitress said, “I have to ask the chef about the bacon mash, we might have potato purée.” So I told her that if bacon mash was not available, I would go for normal boiled ones. She came back saying it was not a problem. But about five minutes later, the chef came out of the kitchen saying “Ta kaše se musí sníst,” which translates to “The potato purée has to be eaten.” Crazy, right? Unlucky for the owner, I actually understood the chef. So naturally, I ended up with plain potatoes instead, because the purée had been sitting around for who knows how long. The schnitzel was thin and bland, and the “perfect side” came with stale lettuce (see photo). My friend ordered pierogi with bryndza (a traditional Slovak sheep cheese), but they were pretty dry and had stiff dough. Go check out the “authentic” other reviewers. You will figure out what this is about. I was really looking forward to a good piece of food from my country after almost a month in Malta, because we came to Gozo only once. But it was barely safe to eat. 👍 Jediná kultúra, ktorú si z našej krajiny priniesol na Maltu, je zlé pohostinstvo.

Xlendi is a beautiful seaside town on the island of Gozo, and Slovak Restaurant is its hidden gem that is truly worth a visit. The kitchen serves excellently prepared Czechoslovak dishes, which are hearty and full of flavor. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, and the owner, a Slovak, does an amazing job, showing how much this restaurant means to him. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Gozo – it's an experience not to be missed.

We had a wonderful experience at the new Slovak restaurant! Even though they’re still in soft opening mode, the food and drinks are already of a very high standard – authentic, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The goulash in particular was outstanding! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and the manager, Barbara, is super nice and attentive. We’re really looking forward to...
