POPP Social Club — Restaurant in Sliema

Initially, our plan was to enjoy some beers by the beach, but due to the cold, we decided to find a place indoors. I suggested this bar and ended up bringing a group of 7 people — all potential customers — to a spot that’s not particularly well known.

Everyone in the group, except me, purchased drinks from the bar. I had already bought a beer prior to arriving and was still drinking it. Instead of appreciating the fact that six new customers were now spending money at his establishment, the owner (or bartender) immediately confronted me in an aggressive and unprofessional manner, pointing out my drink and saying things like “Are you ok?” and “Are you crazy?” — completely over the top for the situation. He even compared it to bringing food to a restaurant, which felt more like a power trip than genuine concern.

The experience was unnecessarily hostile and embarrassing, especially considering I was the one who brought business to the place. Also worth noting: the beer they serve is only 400ml (not even a pint) and costs €5 — definitely not worth it given the treatment we received.

Had an amazing time at Pop Social Club. The place has such a great vibe. One of the highlights is the open-air layout; the sky-open space makes it perfect for spring and summer hangouts.

Their drink selection is impressive, especially loved that they offer gluten-free beers (huge plus!). The cocktail menu is equally fantastic.

As for the food, the menu is extensive, and The Smash burger? Easily one of the best I’ve ever had.

A hidden gem! My partner and I absolutely adored this place and came again the day after, friendly staff and incredible food.
