We went to Temptasian twice while staying at Ax The Palace. WHEN THEY OFFER YOU "free" WATER, SAY NO ITS 5.35 FOR WATER AND 1.80 FOR A SOFT DRINK. They say it in a way to convince you it's free when actually they'll charge you an extortionate price for water, and it tastes terrible probably just refill the bottles with tap water. I would recommend the Half/Full duck and the sushi which is hot & spicy with tempura prawns and panko breadcrumbs... delicious The first time we had excellent service, excellent food and there is nothing bad I could say except that they offer you water at the start as if it is free but then you check the bill at the end to see that you've been charged 5.35 euros for a medium-sized bottle of water. The second time was different we were sat down and forgotten about for 20 minutes, before someone came over and handed us a menu even though by that point if they had stuck around for 2 seconds we would've told them what we wanted to order as we knew. We weren't able to order any food until around 35 minutes into our "meal" we hadn't yet started, meanwhile there are waiters/waitresses passing by us constantly, especially a guy dressed in a suit but he only serves tables who have clearly spent a lot of money and have bought bottles of wine. We ordered two starters and finished them within 5 minutes as it was just sushi, we were told it would only 5-10minutes after us finishing for our duck to arrive but another 30 minutes passed before we received the duck and at that point I wasn't feeling too hungry and our last meal in Malta had been ruined. We ordered two deserts by this time the restaurant was considered closed as it was past 10pm and funnily enough our deserts came out within 2 minutes but my ice-cream had already started melting so it had been sat there in the incorrect temperature for a while. We were sat down from 20:20pm and didn't leave until shortly after 10pm. On three occasions we were offered water but just "water" which is clearly told that way to scam people out of money as they present it as being free when it is 3 times the price of a soft drink, unlucky for us on the three occasions we were offered water it was at the times when we actually had food on our table rather than when we were waiting for someone to serve us. We had 2 sushi starters, 1 half duck in around 1 hour and 40 minutes which is absolutely ridiculous. Stop scamming people...
Read morePeanut allergy reaction due to bad information. Asked our waitor twice about any peanut/nut contents within two dishes, and checked the menu, before ordering and she assured they were free of it. When I got my TemptAsian Platter I saw a suspicious sauce so I tried a small knifes edge of it. This I shouldn't have done. Started to feel it almost immediately and got the attention of another waitor who, when asked if there's any peanuts in the platter said: "Sure, yeah, in this and in this". Had to go down to my room and take antihistamines while my two friends waited at the table. I drank some water but the reaction was coming on. When I got back I was offered ice cream or something else to replace my platter, but I explained that I wasn't to keen on eating since I felt the need for water, fresh air and hopefully walking it off. We we're also already late for meeting up some friends. Some kind of manager tried to comfort us by saying that they'll remove the platter, that I obviously barely touched, from the bill and my friends payed for the glass of wine I ordered to go with it but had to leave on the table. The next 2-3 hours I focused on feeling whether my throat was clear and I got some rashes/blushes that luckily started to wear of after awhile. Quite a close call. If I would've eaten slightly more of it I would have been going to the hospital (which I also told them) and a really bad experience overall with the staff's reaction. Oh and yeah, just happened to be...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible, waited 40 minutes between courses, and when they arrived they weren’t even hot. Ended up leaving halfway through and was met with an abhorrent judgmental comment that assumed that I haven’t been to fine dining restaurants before. I have been to numerous in London, ranging from Benares, Kanishka, 1945, Jamavar, The Landmark. I’ve also been to Zen in St Julian’s, and so many more. None of these establishments have made me wait so long for such horrible cold food, nor have they responded to me or my wife in such a manner. Funnily enough, when I asked for the manager they made us wait even for him to come down (which I wasn’t gonna bother with after hearing how the staff responded to my complaint). A shame as it was our last of 7 nights in Malta in a 5 star hotel, we were really looking forward to having this meal as it looked amazing, unfortunately it’s all form and no function. It has just left a really sour taste and i assure you it will be the same for you. Save your money, better yet, go to Zen in St Julian’s, a much better “fine dining” restaurant with amazing service that is actually slightly healthier on the wallet. I look forward to seeing the generic response they seem to give on all their other low star reviews. Just so you know they don’t actually take on board the negative comments, if they did we wouldn’t have had the experience we...
