Edit:I have to amend my original review as we just dined at the restaurant and found the dishes to be disgustingly sweet. The only decipherable flavour was sugar! Thai food is all about achieving that elusive balance of flavours. I'm afraid they're way off mark here. We seriously began to wonder whether the chef slipped and accidentally put too much sugar! The som tam was good but they deceivingly put it on a bed of shredded lettuce to make it look like papaya, when in reality there isn't much papaya there. As usual there were no veggies in the curry or tom yum. Literally just meat floating in coconut milk and curry paste. We told our server about the issue with the sweetness. Her only remark was : 'next time tell us not to make it so sweet'. There won't be s6 next time of course because we are not looking for melted curry ice cream!

Expectations were high after reading the reviews here. I am pleased to say that they are correct as the flavours are very authentic. My only gripe is that the curry was way too sweet. The pad Thai and seafood salad were really good and the flavours were spot on. It would be nice to include some vegetables in the curry and pad Thai though. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend it is you're looking for...

One Thai Kitchen may not look pretty and far from fancy, but they effortlessly deliver the true Thai taste to Malta. Great food with good price. Out of our one-week trip we had 4 meals at/from them. I’d recommend all kinds of spicy salad. They got it perfect to the T. Sweet, tangy and a little salty. And they let you choose spice levels. Pad Kaprao (spicy stir fried holy basil with protein of choice) was also tasty. Our least favorite dishes were Pad See Ew and Padthai. Could be because we‘re not a fan of broccoli in these dishes. The portion was not too big or too small. They kept their spot clean despite the location. I think it’s a walkway to an apartment entrance. May not look so welcoming but it turned out to be more pleasant to dine there than expected. The chef, cooks and staffs were very accommodating to our requests. They even ran to fetch some salmon for the salad when they actually ran out of raw salmon that day. We will definitely be back. In fact, flights have already been booked and this time we got a hotel closer to One Thai so we can eat there for one whole week! If that‘s not love, I don’t...

Unfortunately this will be the first negative comment and I really would have wanted to give it a 5star...

I had a nice cosy dinner last night here, having read the full 5star reviews, I was a bit sceptical but when I taster the spring rolls, it was really fantastic. Food arrived speedy and all looked fine- great finish to my Maltese visit. However, I spent the dawn on the toilet with diarrhoea and vomitting- it was clearly something with the food or the hygiene in the kitchen.

Pity as I would definitely recommend this place. Wondering what went wrong yesterday.

Sorry, it’s a no from me this time.

Update: Poul, thanks for your reply! Have no options to directly reply to your message so I give an answer to your question here: I had spring rolls and meal nr 14: sweet and sour prawns with rice. It tasted good. wasn’t my first day in Malta either so it was not the usual “tourist tummy” effect, I am afraid. Thanks for...

Could I be biased because the first time I tried their food was through a surprise takeaway from my SO? Maybe, maybe not. I tried the spicy shrimp soup and rice. It was bursting with flavor and the packaging was neat, with clear film around the soup bowl so that it stays warm and doesn’t spill. The soup had all the right ingredients - galangal root, chili paste, lemongrass, ginger, mushroom(fresh not canned), shrimp(cooked from fresh, not the tasteless frozen ones), etc. The soup was coconuty, spicy to the right level, and delicious. There is something I would like to point out though, the soup was very sweet. And I have seen the same comment on sweetness from other reviewers as well. I am not sure if it is supposed to be that sweet, I am not an expert on Thai food so I cannot say, but if you don’t like your food too sweet, it is probably better to specify when ordering from them. Other than that, super satisfied.

I had the papaya salad, it’s not on the menu but I think it’s a special that you have to asked for. They are the only kitchen within this part of town that makes papaya salad. A bit much on the tamarind but I stilled enjoyed it. It’s not as great as what I’m used to having but it meets the standards. I order the chicken Kuay Teaw Kua Gai as well. I was super hungry and I didn’t make the trip to this place to just eat the papaya. Over all, I really enjoy it. It’s hidden in the rough and you have to go between streets and walkways to see the sign of the restaurant. I tried two other Thai places here, and I didn’t like it as much. It was a few Euros more and it didn’t taste as great. So if you’re Craving so Thai food, this is the place I recommend. Yes, I am Asian, and I have cultural heritage in south East Asian food and I approve this place.
