So disappointed by bizarrely poor service received tonight. We were a table of 6 people getting together for Christmas, and upon receiving our starters we realized one of our friends had received her main course with the other starters as she had ordered King Prawns (double checking this was ok with the waiter).

After the waiting staff were informed one of them shouted from the other side that it wasn't his fault, while his colleague just shrugged and offered to take it back to warm it up when the mains were brought out, but being fresh king prawns that's obviously not a realistic option.

We kept thinking surely there was a mistake and they would bring out her actual main course with the rest of ours, but no. When all our food came out, she had nothing put in front of her. It made the rest of us feel so awkward eating ours. The worst part actually was that it was given zero attention by any staff. Mistakes can be made of course, but there was no apology at all, no explanation, no complementary coffee, no discount for the incredible inconvenience, absolutely nothing. The waiter who took our order to begin with never approached our table again.

They forgot to offer us dessert, and never approached us to see if we needed anything after we had finally ordered and finished our coffees. We had to get up to ask them for the bill ourselves... We were a group of old school friends celebrating, so this really put a dampner on the whole evening and embarrassed one of our friends who had recommended the restaurant to the rest of us. Even though the food was decent, (meat was cold for all of us) we won't be returning because the...

Was recommended this restaurant by our boat captain but could not be more unhappy in the way we were treated. Firstly, we made reservations at 9:30 for 6 people and it was approved, however, when we first arrived, a waiter angrily told us there was no availability for tonight before we could even say we had a reservation. Then, they told us we had to wait 20 minutes so they could set up a table for us. We came back 20 minutes later and the staff said we had to wait an additional 15 minutes so we were not sat until 10:00pm. My friend and I ordered a calamari as an appetizer once we got our water and bread. However, we never got it and even asking the waiters twice when it was coming out, they said they could check and let me know but never did. Our food came around 10:50, calamari still not there. Finally 10 minutes after our main courses came, the calamari did too with no apology on how late it was. My friend did not like her seafood pasta, took one bite of it, and asked for it to be taken back and ordered something else. The waiter rolled his eyes when he walked away to throw it out. When we were ready to pay, they charged us for the seafood pasta and the replacement one so my friend and I asked the waiter why we got charged for both. His temper was raised and cussed and yelled at us about taking the dead food pasta off the check. Would not recommend this...

I would have given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the service we received yesterday evening and the dessert.

We were 7 and all were happy with our food. I ordered Linguini seafood main course portion (price is almost 20euro, so not on the cheap side for a plate of pasta), which was delicious but huge so I had a lot left including seafood. I asked the waiter to take it away and he nodded and said no problem. About 15 minutes later I asked him where is my take away pasta (I was looking forward to have it for lunch the next day as it was really good) and he just looked at me with a half smile and said ah sorry I forgot and the chefs threw it away. He went to the kitchen, came back and assured me that they will make something for me. I agreed although I wasn't sure what that something is. Well, the answer is nothing as for the rest of our time there ( approximately 30mins or more), he just ignored me and when we were leaving he said nothing. I felt that it is so unfair to first waste my money on something which was thrown away for me and also being lied in my face.

We also had a dessert, cheesecake, which did not taste good and was very hot (we have never had a hot cheesecake).

I'm not sure if I would recommend based on...

While strolling around Valletta with my girlfriend, we decided to stop for dinner. After checking a few places on Google, we gave La Sfoglia a chance. We booked on the spot and, even though they told us to wait 30 minutes, they managed to split a table for four and seat us after half an hour – a nice touch I really appreciated. At first, I was afraid it might be a typical tourist trap, given the central location, but by the end of the meal I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were polite and, despite the restaurant being very busy, service was fast and smooth. We started with fried calamari – perfectly light and not oily – and a burrata salad (a bit unusual alongside seafood, but we wanted to try it). We also had mussels: not the best I’ve had, but at least fresh. For the main course we both ordered lobster pasta. It was excellent: cooked al dente, with a delicious bisque full of flavor, no heavy cream – just simple and well done. The restaurant sits on one of Valletta’s busiest streets, surrounded by crowds, and could easily have fallen into the “tourist trap” category. Instead, La Sfoglia delivers good quality food, quick service, and an unpretentious atmosphere. Exactly what you need on a summer evening in Malta.

Overpriced, it’s a place where mainly tourist eat and that’s why the prices are like that. Unfortunately the staff is careless, and they ignored us as we have ordered a big portion of fried calamari to share (enough for two as specified from the staff). Many dishes are not listed in the menu and we had to ask what available and the price. Not available a menu for non alcoholic drinks. Calamari were not well fried: the crumble was falling apart and at the end the calamari were greasy for the oil used to fried them. We tried to catch the attention of the staff and when we finally got it they seemed not understanding the problem. We explained them the calamari were not well fried, showing all the crumble apart. They were bit annoyed from our complain and they just took the plate. They brought a new portion in less than 5 minutes without any comments, but unfortunately the problem was always the same. We decided just to eat the calamari without the crumble. We paid asap and left. Unfortunately 20€ for a dish badly cooked is too expensive. Moreover, the same night we started feeling sick for the oil.

🌟 La Sfoglia – A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Valletta 🇲🇹🍴 Tucked away in one of the quiet corners of Malta’s capital, La Sfoglia is a true gem — surrounded by traditional Maltese houses and full of local charm. The atmosphere is calm and intimate, perfect for a relaxing meal away from the crowds. From the moment we arrived, the owners and staff made us feel right at home — always attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Their service comes with a smile, and their passion for what they do really shows. Now the food… absolutely amazing. A beautiful balance of traditional Maltese flavours blended with a Mediterranean twist — every dish was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re a local or visiting Malta, I highly recommend La Sfoglia for an unforgettable dining experience in Valletta. You’ll leave full, happy, and already thinking about your next visit!🍷✨
