Mandala Puerto Vallarta — Restaurant in Jalisco

We spend about 1100 pesos with tip included at mandala tonight. The server and the bass boy were amazing with the service. When we got there - they said a table was only for bottle service- my husband and I can’t finish a bottle together so we asked were could we sit to have a drink and dance at the same time- we were redirected to the back of the club by the bar area. We sat at two high chairs by the side door (entrance on the left side) we ordered a couple Of beers and patron shots (3 rounds to be exact) and a bottle of water. On the second round we couldn’t finish our drinks on one sip so we asked the server if we could leave them at the table one of the “capitan” said it was okay and our drinks were kept in the table - we were able to dance a couple songs then came back to finish our drinks . On the third round we ask for a beer and a patron shot and my water battle more than half full still on the table. Our drinks were brought and my husband took a sip of his beer and I finish most of my tequila shot. My bottle of water untouched. We asked again the server if our drinks could stay at the table . She said yes and that she was going to notify her helper to not to clean the table (let’s remember the drinks are the beer and the water are almost full the shot almost empty) we danced one song came back to find the table cleaned . We asked the server what happened and she surprised said she asked her bass boy to not to clean the table. Then she says the “capitan” removed them. My server goes to the guy and tells him why he removed them (this is another captain not the first one that supervised our drinks) He comes to me in a rude manner asking me what drinks I had. Then when I say what I had. He calls me a liar and says the bottles were removed because they were empty. I disagree with his statement and tell him I had just posted to Snapchat a picture of the drinks before getting up to dance and show him the proof. He says it just pictures and proves nothing. And that those tables once you get up you are leaving. We were never told that. Then, he proceeds to add he can replace the beer and the water but he will take t off from the servers check. This is so inhumane and unprofessional. He wouldn’t admit he was the one that removed it. My server apologized by saying she is not from puerto Vallarta but from Guadalajara and that she was told she could lose her job for mistakes like “keeping an eye on our drinks”. Since when are costumers supposed to drink a beer or a bottle of water at once , and if it is a club why can’t we dance and finish the drink later - now, if the rule is get up and lose your drink... then let the costumer know so we can carry our drinks to the dance floor (not to mention spilling and liability on the dance floor) . I told the guy I was not going to fight him over a bottle of water and a beer (and some of my left over patron shot) because I can get it at the corner store- but to accept his mistake and his nasty attitude. Once I said “there is no problem” he walked away turned his back on us and didn’t even apologized. How do you have a manager /leader for such prestigious club like that on your board? You should be ashamed... so sad that en vez de ayudarnos entre mexicanos nos chingamos más. Todo este tiempo guardé mis recibos de lo que gasté y jamás estuve ebria como para no saber lo que pasaba . Our night began with a young man approaching me and my bf. He promised us free entry, a free table, and the first 2 drinks on the house. Once me and bf made it inside the waiter who was assigned to us came up to us & took our first order of drinks without a menu & only offered a limited drink choice. After we finished our “free” drinks. We decided to buy 2 more rounds of drinks, and that’s when the waiter finally gave us a menu to pull up on our phones. Anyways, we were enjoying the music as they had a great selection & the atmosphere was very lively. However, my bf & I were not feeling any sort of buzz after finishing all 6 drinks (they tasted good, but water downed). So, we asked for the tab & we were charged the “free” drinks. That’s when I asked the waiter & he said that he could only take my margarita off bcs it was a old promotion. I then asked to speak to a manger/ supervisor & he then grabbed a young lady. The young lady who was super condescending comes & tells me that she simply can’t honor the young man’s word & that they won’t doing anything about it. I could see her telling this other man the situation, but by her body language I could tell she was upset with his response & so then I see her go to someone else & explain it to this other person. At this point I don’t think any of them were supervisors or managers, and if they were, they dealt with it very poorly. Soon after this the other man came up to me, and he was very condescending as well. He told me that there was no possible way that they could take the drinks off, that once the drinks were in the system that they could not been undone. I told him how was that when our waiter was offering to do that for the one drink. After a while of going back & forth he then offers to give us 2 free drinks for both me & my bf. I told him that I honestly wasn’t comfortable with being there at that point & how was that more beneficial than just taking the first 2 drinks off. He then gaslighted me & didn’t even answer that. He mockingly said you want that or nothing. My bf then agreed to that offer. At the very least the man left & then came back to admit the young mans fault. He said that the young man just started working there. So, I just let it go for a second & ordered the vampiros & that’s when the waiter said we couldn’t order that. Lol that we could order a paloma. Like this whole situation was a joke. We ended up getting the drinks, but left as soon as we finished them. Disappointing to say the least. Btw heres a screenshot I happen to have...

I will never go back to this club - it is absolutely a scam! We went for my sister’s bachelorette party and I had purchased 2 VIP tables for our large party of 19 people (the website said up to 10 people per table). When we get there, we are led up to a tiny section with two 3 ft tiny plastic grey tables and told that we have to fit 19 women into a space that should fit 5 people. It would have been physically impossible for our group to have fit in that space, and the staff just continued to argue back that that is the space I get for paying $2200 USD for two tables (advertised as the VIP tier online). You can tell that they do this often and get over on people by their lackluster response to my simple question of how they could possibly think a group of 19 people could fit in the small allotted space. In addition, their website was extremely misleading, most of the tequila options we saw were bottom shelf (we saw a lot of Jose Cuervo), most of the staff had an attitude and the fan that was above our section didn’t work on a very hot night. We ended up making the most of it but even the staff at our Airbnb let us know upon our return that Mandala is a huge scam. We ended up making the most of our time but I could not leave without documenting the troubles we experienced and hopefully preventing another group from making the same mistake that we did.
