Safety Incident and Inappropriate Staff Response Today, my 10-year-old son slipped and fell on a large chunk of ice (approximately the size of a phone) and a wet floor at your store. He sustained a minor cut on his knee and also bumped his head on a nearby shelf. Naturally, I was quite alarmed and immediately notified the cashier, asking them to place a warning sign and clean the area to prevent anyone else from getting hurt.
Surprisingly, the staff took no immediate action. About five minutes later -- while I was still in line to pay -- the cashier finally called for the manager and, rather bluntly, told me: "If you want to complain, complain to my manager."
I found this response dismissive and highly inappropriate, especially given the nature of the incident. My concern was primarily for public safety, and I expected a more urgent and empathetic response from the staff.
When the manager finally arrived, I calmly explained the situation -- the wet and icy floor, my son's fall, and the need for immediate action to prevent further accidents.
To my shock, instead of addressing the safety concern, the manager began raising his voice, assuming I was just there to complain. I tried to reiterate that I was only concerned about the hazardous condition, but he interrupted me and said, "You are not welcome here!"
I was stunned. Not only was the response unprofessional, it felt like I was being punished for speaking up about a legitimate safety hazard -- one that had already injured my child. I left the store deeply upset and disappointed.
This experience has shaken my trust in your store's ability to maintain a safe environment and treat customers with basic respect and empathy. I hope this message prompts a serious review of staff behavior, especially how safety concerns are handled. No customer -- let alone a parent trying to protect others -- should ever be treated this way.
I hope this matter is taken seriously. At the very least, I suggest a review of store safety protocols and customer service training to ensure a better response in...
Read moreThis is an UN-FRIENDLY food court service against Taiwanese. I was there today. I requested an additional foam cup for my soybean milk but was refused. The service lady claimed she can only give two, following the store's rule. Though unpleasant, I left the casher counter, yet she continued to murmur. I was unable to listen to what she was murmuring but clearly recognized "...Taiwanese..." for number times. I went back to the counter, changeling her that there was NONE all about "Taiwanese". She then said in Chinese: "I am not afraid of you even you want to kill me". What? I had never threatened to hurt anybody. I told her to be better careful of her language or I can sue her or the store as she seemingly insulted Taiwanese at no point. She replied to me, in Chinese: "Go on to sue me, Go on to sue the store...". I ended this unpleasant conversation and left. I later reported the event to the store manager, but she seemed not to take it serious and cold-bloodedly said she will talk to the food court manager. Helpless, I can only reluctantly left the store and told myself not to visit this store again. They might not care about my business at all. Yet, I felt I need to share my experience. Also, what still not understood by me was that why Taiwanese was innocently rolled into a customer vs serviceman’s confrontation and therein became a target of...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW: this place is a mad house. The parking lot is filled with aggressive, rude drivers who can't care less about scratching your car door when they park. Also, its staff have lowest of the low hygiene standards: I wanted to buy two Berkshire pig's feet that were vacuum packed in the butcher counter. The butcher then cut open the package, but couldn't separate the two frozen legs. So, what did he do? he just threw the legs on the bare floor to separate them! He did it right in front of me, as if there was nothing wrong. I couldn't believe what I saw! Needless to say, I didn't buy the pork legs and headed straight to the store exit. Gross! I should have reported this to the Health Department.
(Previous Review). Should be 3.75 stars. I don't know why the rating of this market is so low. The produce selection is wide and prices on-par with Lion City. The seafood counter is also not bad. I'd suggest that you shy away from their meat department, however. Just go to Mitsuwa or Marukai for Asian-cuts or Whole Foods/Trader Joe's for American-cuts. So, while this place ain't perfect for all of my grocery needs, it is definitely better...
