Not certain what has happened in the last 2 months. We bring our adult autistic daughter here for rec swim periodically when she is on break from other programs. She loves to just be in the water. But it seems open rec swim hours are becoming sparse and pushed to outlier times like 6am or 8pm. Today there was a small afternoon window as per website. She and her Dad arrived and were told by front desk staff to go ahead and enjoy the pool. 15 minutes after arriving, a front desk employee got in the pool and pretended to be drowning for an emergency exercise. My daughter and her Dad were told they had to get out of the pool and the pool would be closed for the rest of the day. They were both extremely disappointed. Nothing was said when they arrived. It was a waste of costly fuel and time to drive there as well. What upset my husband even more was they permitted people in the pool for swim lessons to stay. I’m really trying not to think this was discriminatory toward our autistic daughter, but my husband said he did feel singled out. Not cool! This is by far one of the nicest Y facilities. I do hope more open rec swim hours are added and our daughter is permitted to swim...
Read moreI am very disappointed with my child's recent swimming session; as 2 swimming instructors Json and Bilal totally messed up the whole session. I felt like Bilal was completing his instructor internship over providing swimming lessons to the kids. During the session, both instructors kept chatting together instead of focusing to the kids lesson.
I was expecting 1 instructor entertaining 4 kids; but It was a complete disaster during my kid's session. 2 instructors for 8 kids all working together; what a joke. I couldn't figure out who the instructor was and always wondered what my kid was getting out of it? Totally wasted my time, and money.
Json and Bilal didn't take responsibility as a swimming coach; and as a result all kids have suffered.
And in the last session, when they were providing my kids feedback and I raised my concern why my kid couldn't level up while she has already taken the same level class 2 times; Json said it's more of an individual capability.
Totally agree! That statement made sense if he would have put his best effort to educate my kid and to support...
Read moreThis YMCA has an elaborate facility but you know what, staff here are unapproachable. Not sure if it is a training issue, or just a management style (a i-dont-care-attitude, where they feel that they don't care if few leave in an already over-populated facility), but all staffs are extremely cold, not approachable, and carry a stone face attitude. I have recently moved from this facility to another facility of YMCA few weeks back and I can say the difference. I also had an opportunity to have meetings with the director/associate director (and the stand in associate director) of this facility on an incident which was related to me and my son (who is a special need child and is in autism spectrum) and overall I did realize that this facility needs a lot lot more training, staff need to be a lot more compassionate and understanding and most important bit more grounded. Overall I will not recommend this place although, I find no issues on the...
