One of the worst McDonald’s in the world and the worst restaurant in Mauritius!
How on earth can a brand like McDonald’s allow such a franchise in Mauritius to operate despite all the negative reviews? I went there on Friday 31 May 2024 at 7.30pm. Once you get inside, there is usually a big crowd around the kiosks as there is no-one serving you at the counter! I asked one of the staff if I could order directly at the counter but without a smile, she directed me to the kiosks, which by the way, had multiple issues like the order receipt getting stuck inside the machine. At first, I did not get any help from the staff to order but when there was a mechanical failure, then they came for a quick moment. The TV screen showing your order number was not operating, so everyone had to wait and hear the guy shout your number! He had no energy in his voice and was doing multiple tasks! People who did not have a debit/credit card, had to line up at a new counter to pay in cash! The place was also dirty with many napkins on the floor and the vibe was weird for those sitting inside. In the end, someone helped me with my order through the kiosk and after a long waiting time, I got my order. Since the process to get the meal was so long, I decided to take my meal without checking and asked the staff if this was my meal. He said yes. To my disappointment, they even forgot to add my Large Fries! Others in the queue were also complaining about the poor service. With zero customer service, irresponsive staff, ordering issues, mistakes and more, you would be better off having street food in Grand Baie! This is the worst McDonald's I have been to during my travels in the last 15 years! It’s also a shame that such a rogue and unprofessional franchise destroys the image of the popular fast food chain! Read moreWas there on 14.01.23, absolute mess. There was some issues with the self ordering devices where sometime apparently there was bugs,preventing customers to place the orders. As a result,impossible to made card payment and same had to go to the counter to place orders and pay cash. But, at the counter,unfortunately there was nobody to attend the customers and at some points, this lead to lot of frustrations among those people as when they were calling for someone to attend, all the staff there act like they were deaf. We do understand that not anyone can take the order and handle the cash transaction as everyone have their specific task, but the thing is, COMMUNICATION is the key. It arrived at a point where a customer was very upset and start to argue with apparently the person in charge and the man had been very rude saying that he can take the order,but one should wait for at least 45 mins, which i let you guessed, became a aggravating circumtance. When we say fast food,it should be fast food. Customers are not here to know what is going on about your insides, it's not their business. If you faced short staff, you should do the needful in order not to have any issue in your operations or most simple, do not operate. Hall space dirty,no one to clean up the floor and tables after those who finished leaved. Very confusing. And hearing those who are there very often,they said that its habitual. Read moreWe had a disappointing experience at McDonald's today. Arriving around 6:15 PM on a Thursday, we placed our order at one of the digital kiosks. The process went smoothly, and we decided to add a few extras to our Royal Deluxe combos, including sundaes, nuggets with dipping sauces, and a cappuccino.
The first issue arose when the kiosk failed to print our receipt. Concerned, we checked with the front counter, where staff confirmed they had received our order. However, 30 minutes later, we still hadn’t been called to pick it up. Just as we went to inquire, the order was finally completed.
While 30 minutes is an unusually long wait for fast food, we assumed the dinner rush might have caused some delays. We were then directed to another counter to collect the cappuccino. Unfortunately, two staff members who were finishing up a batch of coffees disappeared without explanation. We waited 10 minutes with no assistance before returning to the original counter to ask for help. Another 10 minutes passed before someone finally arrived to make the coffee.
By the time we got home, the food was cold, the sundaes were half-melted, and, adding insult to injury, the dipping sauces we paid extra for were missing.
The food itself was fine—classic McDonald’s—but the delays and poor service made the entire experience frustrating and disappointing. Fast food should be quick and reliable, but this visit...
