The location and atmosphere is great. Well lite and a nice view over the sea etc.
Food was ok, but don't go there with high expectations.
I barely wrote negative review, but it deserves to be said i think 🙂 . We went there with approx 20 people who all took the buffet menu for lunch, and I was the only one who took a Biryani. However I experienced something that made me realised how poor the customer service was.
Since it was a buffet menu, they placed the entry snacks in dishes like 3 4 places on the big table and they were refilling each time. One snack dish/plate was near me. Although I knew I didn't ordered the buffet menu and surely I wasn't supposed to eat them but a friend of mine told me to have a taste as there were plenty. I took like a chicken wing and something like pakora I think. And few minutes later, shockingly waitress came and removed the whole snacks plate nearest to me, which like 4 5 people were still serving from, and told us they will serve them individually as I took some snack from it and i didn't pay for the buffet menu. 👎 Instant disappointment, how can such a place be so cheap? there was plenty of left over snacks; we came with like 20 people paid for everything and cause of 1 person took 1 chicken wing you acted in such a cheap way 🤦 I even told them I will pay for the 1 chicken wing and 1 pakora I ate cause i was so embarrassed 😅 well, it's my bad, i didn't pay for the buffet menu after all 😉 Best part is when the waitress was taking the plate I ask for a soft drink, the latter completely ignore me. I had to ask 3 times! and someone else brought it to me. shows how trained and well mannered the staffs are 🙂
This was my personal experience though, I have seen mix reviews but I ain't coming back and surely will not recommend this place to anyone i know unfortunately.
Again, I know I am at fault as I was not supposed to have even 1 snack from them but there is something call being customer oriented. Maybe the personnel need a bit of...
Read moreVery bad experience. We went there on 19th Jan for lunch. There were four of us.
Positives First :
Has good Ambience.
It is not easy to get authentic Indian taste food in Mauritius. This is one of the place where you can get it (but how would you like it if that also doesn't work out well for you, like it did in our case ?)
Negatives now :
Very very poor Hospitality and Manners from the serving staff. Almost makes you feel that you are not welcome there. Serving staff members would stay huddled up in a group chit-chatting.
We ordered Biryani as we were missing authentic Indian taste food. When you find that your FOOD HAS HAIR and a piece of STONE, and you call the waitress to show it, what do you expect ? That they will apologize and take the dish back at least ? Your are expecting too much. These people would just take the plate in their hand, look at it and take it away and will give you a new plate so that you can continue eating the same food from the serving bucket in which there was HAIR and STONE.
While taking up the plate to check our complaint, the waitress drops fork on us from the plate. Obviously a mistake, but do you expect a 'sorry' at least ? No, you are expecting too much.
When you are shocked of these behavior and leave the place without finishing your food, do you expect an apology ? do you expect that manager would come in and say something ? Again, you ahve very high expectations of them. They will just take the bill and off you go.
By keeping the name "Namaste" they are attracting Indian visitors. But they don't have basic manners and respect for guests that a road side eatery in India would have.
Owners of the restaurant can pull up the video recording and check whole incident...
Read moreI visited this restaurant back in late March and early April this year while I was in Mauritius, and I still think about the food I had there to this day. I ordered multiple takeouts and dined in on my last night and was never once disappointed with the food or service. Everyone I interacted with was nice to me and saw to it that I was comfortable and happy.
According to my receipts, which I still haven't been able to discard yet, I ordered a Rogan Josh Kashmiri, which was recommended to me, with some rice and naan to go on my first visit. My second visit was a Murgh Do Piyaza with rice, naan, and a mango Lassi to drink while I waited for my order. I remember the drink was served with a delicious crispy snack, both of which I enjoyed. That same night, I ordered a Shrimp Curry with rice and cheese & garlic naan for dinner the next day. The third visit was another Rogan Josh Kashmiri, my absolute fave, with rice and 2 butter naans. On my fourth and final visit, I ordered another Murgh Do Piyaza with rice and a butter naan, alongside a cocktail whose name is illegible on my receipt. I was served a dessert, which I believe was complimentary because I can't find it on my receipt, but I asked Google, and it's seems to be a Ras Malai. I also ordered my final Rogan Josh Kashmiri with 2 butter naans to go for lunch the next day.
I have never tasted indian food as good as the food I ate at Namaste Restaurant. I remember being so content eating these meals and just being so happy with the quality, taste, and service I experienced there, even though I went above my food budget from the day I chanced upon it. I truly can't wait to...
