The quality of food is decent, their specialty is dosa, they make dosa exceptionally well.
I was used to Mystic Masala since I was 3 of age, and my parents before I was born. Now that I am nearly 23 of age, I was kicked out by the woman in charge. Solely because I pointed out that the price was unnecessarily high. She did not want to hear anything and straight up told me to look elsewhere. In comparison to Indian Summer who literally gave me a free meal.
I've been to Mystic Masala for quite a lot of time. Enough to see who was working there and who was not. I personally noticed that new workers don't last for long. That is apparently due to how slavery-like the management is. One woman I enjoyed the company of who used to work there, quit her job while crying according to the other workers (who are no longer working there btw, I wonder why), due to that she was being verbally abused by this woman in charge. Again, this is what I heard of. But the fact is that there is a lack of staff there and people who used to work there are no longer working there.
The fact that I was kicked out by this very woman shows how money minded and egocentric she is for she straight up pointed fingers at me the moment she heard about what I was pointing out. Being an old regular customer, I tried to be as honest as I could as I genuinely wanted to support there, but no more. This is no way of treating even a regular customer.
I am very disappointed to see what Mystic Masala has become. I hope that they will...
Read moreI’ve been desperate to find a good masala dosa since we arrived in Mauritius and so when I spotted Mystic Masala I thought I’d give it a try. I’m so glad I did. The service was friendly, fast and accurate. The prices were reasonable and the portion size was good. The masala dosa was delicious, quite different to the one I had many years ago when I visited Mauritius for my honeymoon (which was the absolute best) but still delicious and we finished the whole lot. We also ordered the veg thali, the Baingan aloo was lovely and imbli was just deliciously tangy, the daal was good and the chanay were not bad… served with a crispy naan and a popadum it was a very filling meal which I did enjoy.
Pop in if you’re in Port Louis it’s definitely...
Read moreI have eaten at Mystic Masala (when it was just a kiosk there) since I was 5 and one of my favorite dishes was the Dosa. It is sad to see that the quality of the food has dramatically decreased. I have eaten there for lunch today and the dosas were so thin and overcooked to the point where they just fell apart (they were usually fluffly and slightly thicker in the center). The daal and chutney (chutney before was whiteish and tasted really good but now is watery and greenish) that accompany it were just tasteless. I also ordered their sev puri which was falling apart. Overall a major dissapointment; What I considered one of the best spots for indian food and especially Dosas is now somewhere I can't really recommend or...
