I like the food there but unfortunately the staff is very rude. My friend & I walked in and had a drink in our hands and he finished his and I was almost finished with mine. But nevertheless we wanted have more drinks, starters and main course at the restaurant.

The moment that we sat down I heard one of the waitress saying to her colleague « They cannot bring there own drink in » (without knowing that we were going to order drinks at the restaurant.

She came with an attitude to the table having a go at us and saying that it’s the law and that we can’t bring our own drinks to a restaurant and that’s not a foodcourt here. We tried to made her understand that it’s not a problem cause we were going to order drinks, too along with our lunch but she kept on with my brought drink. She even said I should have finished the drink before get in the restaurant. We told her that we prefer to eat elsewhere as we do not accept this attitude. There was no sense that could be talked into her. Her colleagues looked gutted that we were leaving, and she started talking bad about us in creole think I couldn’t understand as my friend was English. Well to summarise it: please check your waitresses attitude, or you’ll loose a lot of clients like that. In the past I went there to eat numerous time and a lot of time I would show up with a drink that I was already having and ordered another one in the restaurant and it was not a problem. Now all of a sudden it is a problem. It’s not as if I’m buying a drink from outside to have it in the restaurant with my meal. I always order a drink along with my meal at restaurants cause I understand that it’s not correct to bring your own drinks. No customer service, unfortunately I would not recommend...

Walked in around lunch time and fortunately got a table. Was seated by a friendly staff member who promptly provided me with a menu.

I ordered a chilli pickled fish slider that comes with wedges. I also grabbed a virgin mojito.

Whilst I was waiting, I had time to process the ambience of the restaurant. An outdoor environment that worked perfectly on the day I visited since it was a warm day with a light breeze.

The decor is lovely and uplifting that also has a fresh feel to it.

After a short wait, the food arrived. The burger arrived and the wedges were served with some sour cream. Tasting the wedges, this was really tasty. Perfectly cooked. Slightly crispy edges and a soft middle. The burger tasted really nice too. The fish was a lovely taste - it wasn’t heavily pickled, so was quite a light taste that I really enjoyed. The bottom of the burger bun was slightly soggy as the sauce from the pickle sauce set in a little too much. That was a shame, but still a good taste. It wasn’t chilli, or did not taste chilli rather, despite the description.

The virgin mojito was refreshing and tasty, if a little too sweet for me.

I was later informed that the fish used was dorado.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable meal with friendly, polite and attentive staff.

Would recommend for others to visit and I would certainly like to visit in the future to try out other items...

Setting - 5/5. I loved the fact that it was tucked away within all these bustling streets and one felt cocooned upon arrival and discovering this courtyard styled dining. Welcome - 4/5. We were immediately greeted; reservation found and escorted to a table. Offer of drinks order which came soon after we were settled. Because we had a little one with us, they took her order quite quickly and served her mains with our starter... no fuss! Food - 4/5, only missing a 5/5 because I would have liked some veggies with my mains... it wasn't clear how large or small the portions would be, so I refrained from ordering another dish. Perhaps some suggestions from the person(s) taking the orders on small side dishes? We ended up ordering 3 chicken meals between us (one breadcrumb thing; another a tamarind coconut curry - delicious; and a spicy chicken bite/brochette with sauce... We tasted each others food, and they were all very tasty but more importantly moist and juicy! I ended my meal with a chocolate fondant with toasted coconut shavings and a coconut ice cream... I'd go back for that anytime. Price - 4/5... Pricey? But then again, I would pay the same if the food and service remains that good! I'm looking forward to another visit soon. I'd especially like to experience their happy hour? I think a reviewee...

We dined at Wapalapam for dinner and we really enjoyed everything: food, service, atmosphere. Our waitress was absolutely great, Wendy, she was so genuine, she recommended a coconut soup for us which we loved and was patient while taking our order (it took long for us to decide). She really showcased a great customer service and we left so happy! We will not hesitate to recommend your place to everyone. Thanks Wendy! Virgin pinacolada was nice too! A tip to the owner: Consider to keep the restaurant during the day without closing. We were a big group of people walking in Port Louis and looking to eat at 4 pm. Unfortunately your place was closed and our friends could not wait as they were very hungry, so they went to eat elsewhere. We were less hungry so we waited till 5.30 pm to get food from your restaurant.

We visited Wapalapam based on the excellent reviews (even rated best restaurant in Port Louis according to TripAdvisor!) - the setting is really nice, like a hip oasis in the middle of the bustling city center…. We were excited about the menu and ordered a few dishes which sounded tasty: Wapalapam Mojtos, Ceviche, Fried Shrimp and grilled fish… the Mojitos were amazing! Loved the use of curry leaves which gives an unsusal twist to this classic cocktail. The food however was such a big disappointment…. The ceviche was more like a coconut soup, the shrimp were slathered in a strange sauce, and the fish was overcooked. Probably best to just enjoy the Mojitos and their happy hour atmosphere…. And go somewhere else to eat :)
