The only fully vegan place in Bacalar so if you're vegan, you're bound to come here. Most of what I had was good, though it's definitely expensive. 100 pesos for a "mango smoothie" that's just frozen mango. 180 pesos for a crappy salad (more on that in a bit).
The crujitofu burger with fries was yummy (but very oily). The fries are good, the fry portion is small but one day I got a bit more, so I guess it depends on who's serving that day. The ahumada burger was also good. The tacos seem to have basically the same ingredients as the burgers so those are probably tasty as well.
The classic salad on the other hand was terrible. I got it to go and I tried to finish it because that's all I had to eat with me, but the flavors or the combo of flavors was just not good at all and left a lingering unpleasant taste. Mostly the issue was the protein - not sure what it was supposed to be, maybe a beet-based falafel? Not great.
I also didn't have much success with the desserts: the chocolate palito didnt have great taste or texture so I ended up throwing away half, and the chocolate chip cookie was just oozing oil rather than flavor. I had it the day after buying it, it was wrapped in napkin and wax paper and they were both fully soaked...
Read moreThis place totally lived up to the hype of all the reviews I saw for it. The first thing I do in any town is find the best rated vegan place and make a pilgrimage to it (normally dragging my non-vegan unenthusiastic friends along).
My friend and I loved it here so much I think we must have ended up there 4 times over 3 days! The view is spectacular, the atmosphere is relaxed and nice right next to the fort but WOW the food. I started out trying three different tacos and one of their massive portions of chips and a frappe to drink. Every little bite was heaven, my friend and I kept laughing at eachother because all we could say was MMMmMMMMMM most of the meal. I also had the hotdog and a burger at other times, and the ice cream sandwich all which were just sensational.
The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful and enthusiastic in their service. I truly could not recommend this place enough to anyone looking for a great place to eat and hang out whether you're...
Read moreThis is a must visit place in Bacalar if you are vegan/vegetarian. They have good vegan protein options which can be used to make burger or taco fillings. They also have good shakes and smoothies. We ordered the 3 taco plate, CrujiTOFU burger, and Falafel burger. The Falafel burger was the best. Burgers come with fries but the quantity of fries is very less.
This place is pretty pricey for a fast-casual restaurant that does not have table service. You have to pay first and order at the counter. One big negative is that they ask you to tip even before you get the food. I am not sure how one is supposed to decide the tip before the food is even served. We also didn't like they fact that the cashier will ask you if you want to tip (guilting), which is not ok, specially for a restaurant without table service. It was...
