In stark contrast, our multiple experiences at Costera 28 in Bacalar have been nothing short of extraordinary. If you want to experience what a real Michelin-star-worthy restaurant feels like, look no further. The Michelin guides absolutely need to pay attention to this gem!!

Serving variety throughout their menu on a daily Basis, Costera 28 provides a bold taste in both drinks and food maximizing local organic greens and meats with fresh ingredients. Chef Carlo Meléndez, humbly delivers a well rounded pallet. If it is still on the menu, I recommend Lamb Carnitas from San Isidro de la Latina, this was superb! Tender but not greasy flavorful and not overwhelming with spices and excess. If this is on the revolving menu when you visit I recommend this dish. We had the Passion Mary (with St Germain), Pink Lady, and local craft beer, topped off the night with a Banana Honey Ice Cream and Espresso Martini (made right not syrupy). Another thing I truly appreciated was the owner, Maria, also served and met customers at their tables, and seemed to be a servant leader behind the hospitable service found here.
