Initially when I arrived at this restaurant, I waited while the hostess completely ignored me. Then two older women came after me and she sat them. Eventually she sat me too. I came here for the atmosphere, which was beautiful along with the live music. However, I have several allergies and when I realized the server had zero allergy training and had no idea what to do, I asked to speak to the chef. The chef basically told me I could only order 1 dish which was a piece of fish. I initially didn't want it and was exhausted by all the allergy talk, so I left, but I changed my mind and came back the next day (for the atmosphere). So I ordered the fish and along with my drink paid $50 CAD. In Toronto this would get you a very good quality meal. After all the fanfare about my allergies, they brought out my meal with a garnish made out of the food I'm allergic to. I had a suspicion, so I asked the server and when he realized, he panicked. It was so awkward. The fish was served to me on a plastic plate. It was overall disappointing. Something I would cook at home while multi tasking. It was a piece of fish with pesto on it. Overall I think fine dining in Mexico has a long way to go! Sorry! But you can't just stick a violinist in your restaurant and charge 5X more for your food. People who want to spend more money on food aren't stupid, we're looking...
Read moreThis place was located right across our AirBnB. It looked really busy and was always playing good music. Decided to check it out and we weren't disappointed. Ambiance was fantastic. This was my first time going to a restaurant where the floor was sandy pebbles. Almost made it seem like we were dining at a beachfront restaurant. Forgot the server's name but he was fantastic and spoke perfect English. Turns out he goes surfing near where I live in the US. Colleague and I ordered shrimp dishes. I ordered the Zarandeados Camaron. You get a lot more than what the menu says, in a good way. Dish came with mashed potato in the middle and vegetables surrounding. Included green beans, carrots, tomato, zucchini, and mushroom. Couple gripes were the shrimp shell was difficult to remove, carrots were slightly undercooked, and the zucchini still had the stem attached. Flavors were exquisite. Came very close to ordering the pizza. This restaurant has a wood fired pizza oven in the dining room and the smell of fresh dough hitting the hot bricks was hypnotizing. This restaurant is on the pricier side for La Paz. With drinks, you can expect to spend $600...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic food! We had the volcan verde, tartar de atun and grilled fish with chimichurri and everything was very delicious. We liked it so much we went back the next 2 nights and had the salmon salad and grilled shrimp which was spectacular and on the third night we had the Baja style paella and it was just fantastic. Ingredients tasted very fresh and flavorful and the chef is doing truly wonderful things with the wood fired oven. Their house tostadas are fresh and so is the house bread, and they make a fabulous smoky morita salsa that we took 3 servings of! The ambience is very chill and chic, specially in the back garden, there is no obnoxious loud music playing and the music is very chill and low. Perfect for conversations over drinks. Jaimé and Oscar were great servers and overall service is excellent. Fantastic place to unwind after a long day in the sun and just steps from the malecon for a nice post dinner walk. We’d come back...
