This is my favorite seafood place where I go with locals and love sharing with visitors. Mirsha Macklis, the owner, as well as other staff (Ariel, Lupita, Eric, and the chef, Tita, and more that I don't remember) are all phenomenal. They welcome you in English, if you're not comfortable with Spanish, and willingly answer all your questions. I've never had anything that was just mediocre but, my absolute favorite is to get the catch of the day as a "grilled fish fillet" with the side of vegetables. In fact, their veggies (which actually include slices of pear and apple in a light soy-based sauce) are so delicious I often ask for a double portion. The grilled fish fillet option comes with a topping of feta cheese and some other magic. The fish portions are large and perfectly grilled (I've often split the dish with a friend, just getting more of the veggies). They provide MANY condiments to choose from (like your own personal condiments bar). If your hearing is sensitive, I recommend seating in the "side room" (if it's dark, don't worry.... they'll gladly turn on the lights and/or fan for you), as the acoustics aren't the best in the main seating area and local musicians will occasionally come and perform with their own equipment for tips. Although I enjoy the music, it can be hard to hear conversations in that room. Go try McFisher's. They've been around for several decades and are a true Paceño institution. Ask Mirsha about his family history. You'll be glad you did.

La comida súper Rica y a muy buen precio, junto con una michelada con clamato es lo mejor 🤤🤤

This was my 2nd visit. My first was not a great experience, but I saw the potential..so I gave them a 2nd shot...and so glad I did! Firstly, the service is slow..get that in your head before you go. Slow because your plate is sitting on a counter waiting to be picked up? No. Slow as in they are taking the freshest ingredients and crafting your dish from scratch...quality takes time. It's definitely worth the wait. I live in La Paz and eat fresh seafood every day..so I am very particular. They are very slightly more expensive than most that I frequent...BUT, they are more than slightly more creative in their preparation. I ordered the shrimp and grilled onion taco...it was fabulous. There isn't another one like it in the area. The quesadillas have a piece of grilled Cheese added..which is unique, and makes for a great presentation. The quesadilla de marlin was excellent. It differed from others in the area as it had less chiles and added ingredients. It was almost entirely smoked marlin..it was great. My partner had the fish of the day..it was very fresh, superbly prepared, and priced very well. The octopus de ajillo quesadlla was excellent. These guys really know how to treat octopus..it was fresh, flavorful, and tender. If you have been turned off by past pulpo experiences...give these guys a try. I am adding this to my 'must visit while in La Paz' list.

7/17/24 this please is not worth your time

My recent visit to Mr. Fisher's restaurant left much to be desired. The evening began with high hopes, but unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that the culinary experience fell far short of expectations.

Firstly, the Shrimp Quesadilla arrived disappointingly cold, with the shrimp seemingly overcooked and devoid of any discernible flavor. The texture was unappealing, and the overall taste left much to be desired.

Moving on to the second dish, the Quesadilla with Octopus Al Ajillo, the problems persisted. The octopus was inexplicably tough, lacking in any distinctive flavor that could salvage the dish. Furthermore, the tortilla was overly hard, almost to the point of being difficult to chew—a stark contrast to what one would expect from a well-prepared quesadilla.

The beverage selection did not fare any better. The Coca-Cola served in a glass bottle was not just tepid but downright warm, failing to deliver the refreshing experience one would anticipate. Similarly, the Agua de Jamaica tasted overwhelmingly artificial, devoid of the natural flavors one would expect from a traditionally brewed hibiscus drink.

In conclusion, Mr. Fisher's restaurant failed to deliver on multiple fronts. From cold and tasteless dishes to poorly executed beverages, the entire dining experience left a sour taste in my mouth—both literally and figuratively. For those seeking a satisfying meal with quality ingredients and attentive preparation, unfortunately, this establishment falls short...
