Low lit ambience. The decoration is from the time when photos were in black and white.
The music is played but it's not ear-pounding loud. The Jukebox has the "rock and roll" and "soft rock" classics that I like from the 60s to the 2000s. Of course they have Spanish music too which I don't know much about. However, I'm overjoyed that they have the album from my favourite indie band "The Sounds".
One of the cleanest bars compared to the rest of the small bars on or near Revolution.
It's more of a place where you sit, drink, laugh, and conversate. Many times I'll see just two friends sitting next to each other and talking about whatever it is they are talking about. It's not really a place to drink and dance. Unless you're like me and dance in front of the Jukebox while you're choosing the next song.
The patrons tend to be in the upper 20s or older. Also, the typical patrons of the Dandy tend to be dressed as what I would label as "yuppies" and "hipster". This is just an overtly generalized observation I have about its patrons.
All in all, a place to chill if you and a buddy go for a drink and chat...
Read moreObligatory stop, even if you're on a one day vacay. The answer to a dive in Tijuana is this place. Even before Bourdain came here, this spot was a hidden gem. The reason is pretty obvious once you get there. Service is awesome. They greet you at the door right when you walk up to the velvet rope. The hostess isn't ready to seat you? Have a rest on one of the cozy chairs in the waiting area. You've got options, the bar or the old school cocktail tables you'd see in movies from the 50s and 60s. You know, those small ones where it's just meant to hold your drink and nothing more. Love that touch. We had the special they had at the moment, though I'm sure I've had it there before but what do I know...was probably really drunk last time. It was a tamarindo margarita and it was delicious. Bartender was on point, I didn't even finish sipping the last sip before she came up and asked if we wanted another round. Bathroom was clean, but very little privacy. I'll take that over a dirty latrine any day. You'll walk out knowing why ppl come here and why it's popular with both tourists and...
Read moreMy friend and I just found this place randomly and believed that we had discovered a hidden gem. After some research, It turns out that we were not the first ones to do so (Aw shucks!). Even Bourdain has been here, which makes me roll my eyeballs. Nonetheless, this is one of the best cocktail lounges to which I have ever been. The staff behaves and dresses professionally. Monica, our bartender, is an experienced mixologist who will make you a Margarita that will remind you why you came to Tijuana. This is not a brew pub or a rowdy Mexican hillbilly bar. This is a low key cocktail lounge that serves BigBoy drinks. The music is not too loud and you can have a pleasant conversation. Behave yourselves, for this is an establishment for ladies and...
