We travel extensively for work and stay all over North America trying the highest rated bars and restaurants we can find. We stayed nearby and wandered in one night for cocktails. The bartender and cocktails were on point, world class. Seriously, the woman should own her own bar, one of the best I have ever had the pleasure watching at a bar. The drinks were perfectly balanced and her passion was so obvious and infectious. Cannot say enough good things.
The following day, after being so impressed by the bartender, we decided we should try the food because it would be a real treat if it was half as good as the cocktails. Sadly our bartender was not working, the cocktails were fine but not nearly as balanced or consistent. It was fine, but disappointing after the previous day.
We ordered guacamole and asparagus to start. Both were good, but also not complicated dishes and nobody was reinventing the wheel. Then came the main entree. I ordered the ribeye with mole sauce. The mole was great, but the absolute worst steak I have had in the last year, overcooked from how I ordered it and a terrible cheap cut of meat. I told the waiter and he basically said "That's too bad" and took it away. No replacement offered, nothing. Then came the Octopus ceviche, the octopus was just absolutely rancid. Inedible. I literally spit it out neither of us would eat a single bite. Similar reaction from the waiter. The check comes out and we are charged full price for everything. We hardly touched those two entrees. Just glad the appetizers are fine so we didn't leave starving. I would not trust eating the food from this place.
Go in for a cocktail, but don't expect the food to compare. If there is a woman bartending, you seriously are in for a real treat. She was the shining star of this establishment and worth the visit to the city let alone...
Read moreTerrible restaurant!!! If I could give it 0 stars I definitely would. Went in for lunch. It was very slow, maybe two tables had people eating. We ordered agua de Horchata and hot chocolate. We also ordered 2 plates of pollo con mole. To start off they took at least 30 min to take our food out to our table( mind you the restaurant was basically empty). When our food arrived and I took a bite of the chicken it was super cold, like if it had just been taken out of the fridge and they just poured cold mole on it. Had to wait about 5 min for a waiter to acknowledge me, I called him to our table. I let him know the issue. He took my plate back to the kitchen. They took more than 20 min and my plate could not come out of the kitchen. My husband's food was lukewarm and the rice super salty. The tortillas were also cold and practically falling apart. When my husband was halfway through his mole (because he couldn't eat the rice because of how salty it was) I ended up getting up from my seat and walked to our waiter to let him know that we were leaving already and will no longer be needing my food. When he bought our bill he had the nerve to ask if we wanted to add a tip to our bill. My husband was paying and gave him a $50.00 pesos tip and he seemed to be unhappy about it. Honestly, I would have left no tip at all. Not only was the service bad, the food was horrible. I will definitely never be coming back and would not recommend this...
