Amazing birria! This is a very popular "birria only" taco stand. Usually packed during most of the early morning by people coming out from bars, on their way to work, or just your random Mexican looking to get his hand on some of Tijuanas best tacos. During lunch time the amount of customers can be overwhelming. Be very patient, don't be shy, and definitely speak out loud when requesting your order. People will be ordering left and right, standing or in a drive thru fashion from passing cars. What many people do is order from their cars and drive around while their orders are being handled. I notice drive thru has priority. Standing among all the people can be annoying if you are not used to eating with out a table, the flavor of these tacos is just worth the sacrifice
Like in many other birria stands you can request your taco "dorado", which is the tortilla dipped onto the fat from the birria stew and cooked on the skillet for a certain amount time giving the taco a crispy and crunchy texture. The birria stew is also very good, it's served in a styrofoam cup with onions and cilantro. Many locals get their "consomé" on the side to accompany their tacos. It's a match made in heaven.
Like any taco stand in Tijuana, there will be compliments for to enjoy with your tacos. Limes, radishes, pickled onions, cucumbers, etc. Most of these ingredients are kept in water filled containers to keep them fresh. While it serves its purposes, one must keep in mind that there is a possibility of cross contamination caused by customers dipping their fingers to grab these compliments.
The prices are consistent with most of the tacos around this area. As of the time I publish this review a taco is worth about $18 to $19 ($1 dollar) Stews with meat range from $25+ depending on the size...
Read moreI was in the area and noticed this place had great reviews, so I figure I’d give it a try. Not gonna lie, I left feeling underwhelmed. The birria tacos, although big, were surprisingly bland, which was very disappointing. The al pastor, however, was a different story—way more flavorful and easily the best part of the meal. Overall, it was okay, but I wouldn’t go out of my way...
