BE AWARE TRAVELLERS, SHADY TIPPING PROCEDURES AND BAD SERVICE
My partner and I decided to go try some burgers based on the reviews around Cancun. We came across Americano Burger as a choice due to the ratings and vicinity to our location.
To start off with the food, we ordered Wings, the Black Gang Burger and the West Coast Burger. The presentation was nice, as it came on a decent platter. The chicken wings themselves were not impressive. We both had one wing and the texture of the meat tasted old and was on the "mushy side". The flavor was nothing spectacular.
The burgers had potential. My burger came disassembled and looked like the top tipped over with the top bread oddly on the side. I'm not sure if this was intended. The burger came with a mixture of sweet potato fries + regular fries. I was not given the option to pick one or the other as I do not prefer sweet potato fries. We both had a couple bites; it was good, but nothing to rave about a being a burger "boutique".
The server himself dropped the experience for us. While he was there to explain each meal to us, he kind of forgot about us after we received our meal. He did not ask about our meal and was quick to get us to pay. We didn't stay for long. 90% of our food was uneaten. The part that really got me was when he asked me "do you want to tip by cash or the machine". I said machine, and immediately it went to the payment prompt. I was curious as to why it didn't ask me the tip option in which I thought it would do after payment? Unfortunately not. Our server auto-gratuity us 18%. I definitely did not agree with this shady tactic. It leaves a bad taste for foreigners who are not too quick with the conversion from MXN to their local currency. In additional the "pressure sales" would make anyone quickly pay without noticing. I didn't get my receipt. I had to ask for it and he made a passive act when I asked for it and took a while to retrieve it. He gave me the itemized to start. And then I had to ask again for the credit card receipt. That's where I noticed the discrepancy and auto gratuity. Normally I don't put bad reviews unless there is something to be aware of or to let...
Read moreFirst time visiting and definitely coming back! I loved the atmosphere of this place. Live music, service was amazing, very attentive, and the food just Wow! Normally when visiting Mexico as a tourist you want to eat local food, but that craving gets old real fast lol! So we wanted something more familiar to our taste buds. The burgers were so good that surpasses the one from hometown!!! Owners Gabe and Gabriela were very welcoming and charismatic
