So although we were indulging in Tacos and Tequilas, we noticed that in the Hotel Zone it has quite a strong Italian influence with regards to restaurants.
Our Hotel NYX Cancun included, as on the ground floor was this hidden restaurant. We decided to give it a try one evening. The hotel is rather strict when it comes to booking a reservation so luckily we did that early morning.
Chianti Cancun has a normal and a "gourmet" menu offering you all the traditional Italian dishes and more.
For starters I had the Spicy Tuna - sealed in a pepper crust with pepper and Garlic Mayonnaise and Red Pesto, my friend had the Minestrone Soup, traditional soup with seasoned vegetables and pesto beans. Delicious, my Tuna did have quite a bit of kick due to the pepper so i would have liked a bit more of the Mayo to calm it down.
Although quite full, we couldn't resist trying a main meal. I picked the Risotto Chianti (a house recipe with Pork Ribs and wild Mushrooms) and my friend had the Asparagus Risotto (served with Fennel, Almonds and Parmesan Cheese).
Cooked perfectly and full of flavour, it was just extremely rich in taste. We just could not finish our meals.
However it was a lovely Italian experience in Cancun of all places. Great service and superb food in a gorgeous...

Original post: Raw tuna fish served with pasta. Description didn't say served raw. This canadian girl needs her fish cooked. They refused to cook longer for me. So rude about it too. Will never be back!
UPDATE HERE: So they did try and make it right, manager came said drinks would be comped, but waitress still brought bill so of course I paid it. They didn't bring us side plates, or bread as requested but I guess I can chalk it up to language barrier. They sent a violinist over and brought surprise dessert. Was a weird experience overall but other than raw tuna the rest of the food is top notch. I really need to learn more Spanish so I can request my fish cooked well done next time 😐
2nd update: Food and beverage manager Edgar reached me to apologize and get my side of the story. He is refunding the bill. He even invited us to dinner but unfortunately I already had plans. He was very kind and I feel very bad for my original review. I am updating service to 5 stars and the food is really great so you should go ! One bad server experience shouldn't reflect on this restaurant when nyx hotel really does go the extra mile to serve the best food in the hotel zone! I now look forward to visiting Chianti...
Read moreLocated in the NYX Cancun Hotel - the Restaurante Chianti is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in all of Cancun. The service is absolutely perfect! The food is awesome and incredible! I cannot say enough good things about this place. They good above and beyond what is expected and deliver an outstanding experience!
I took my daughter Restaurante Chianti for her 21st birthday celebration dinner. Again, they were outstanding! Victor and Luis were a "pleasure" to have serving us and they were both outstanding! Nadia was a gracious manager and greeted us with a welcoming smile. Itzel was a perfect hostess and escorted us to our table and helped us settle in for a night of perfection!
After the numerous complimentary aperitifs and fantastic bread/olive oil we had the minestrone soup (fantastic) and Cesar salad (also fantastic). The Chicken Alfredo as the main course was fantastic and full of flavor! Do not forget to have a bottle of the Terre Chianti wine - wonderful.
And then to top off a fantastic meal, be sure to try the tiramisu dessert - this is the best you will EVER have!
Again, I LOVE this restaurant and we will come back every time we are in Cancun! See you in...
