I absolutely loved this restaurant when I stayed at Hotel NYX and that is a part of the all inclusive package!!! The staff was friendly and came by one by one to take our orders and drinks. I love how we get to watch the chefs make our food right in our face, but this also means that seating is limited. However, you can’t do reservations but put your name down and wait for your turn. As part of the all inclusive, we could only select one dish from the 5 categories: 1. entrees and salads 2. soup and noodles | breaded and fried 3. rice | sashimi | temaki and conos | nigiri sushi 4. maki mono and rolls | specials 5. dessert — 1. I’ve tried the seaweed salad and akami salad, but the akami salad was definitely the better choice. It comes with seared tuna and thick slices of avocados and tomatoes. 2. I’ve tried the fried octopus, fried chicken kaarage, and miso soup. The fried octopus was tough and hard to chew. The kaarage wasn’t juicy as I’d like but it was okay. The best one of this section was definitely the miso soup. It was hot and flavorful with scallions and seaweed. But I only had one tiny cube of tofu, so I wish there were more. 3. For this section, I highly recommend the spicy tuna hand roll 100%. I loved it so much that I got it two nights in a row. It is filled to the brim with the spicy tuna! 4. I had the salmon skin special (2 pc) and kani roll (8 pc). The kani roll was a glorified california roll, still delicious. 5. We had the choice between two desserts: a yuzu pastel and a clear cake. The yuzu one had an immediate flavor profile, but I preferred the mitsumami because it was not very sweet. It still had a lychee flavor, so it wasn’t flavorless. Both came with a small white chocolate with the restaurant name.

My husband and I went to Umami for my birthday dinner. I had raved about it to my husband because a year prior I had gone and loved it. A year ago when I went, I did the traditional style seating in the hibachi room around the hibachi table. The service was excellent and the food was top notch! A lovely show was put on by the hibachi chef. However, this year, I was sat in the regular part of the restaurant. And the experience was much different. The service was okay. The food was a bit of a let down. The soup we ordered to come out first came out after our entrees and came out luke warm. The only thing I felt I really enjoyed was the birthday dessert which came with a sparkler and a happy birthday song from the servers. The little cake was tasty. But my 2 experiences there are very different fr eachother. In the hibachi part of the restaurant I would say 5/5 stars. In the regular part of the restaurant where the food is prepared in the kitchen and just brought to your table, I would only give 3/5 stars. One other thing I didn't like was that there was no cocktail menu. A year prior when I went they had marvelous and Japanese inspired cocktails. But when I asked for the menu this time they said they didn't have a cocktail menu but the bartender could make a margarita or something for me if I wanted... I opted not to order any drinks.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Umami sushi restaurant and I have to say, it was an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the lovely hostess Yensy, who quickly seated us at a cozy seat in front of the sushi chef.

Our waitress, Nadia, was exceptional. She had an infectious smile and was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She made fantastic recommendations and was always available when we needed her. She really went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable.

But it wasn't just the service that stood out. The food was absolutely delicious! The chef, Gamaiel, truly knows how to prepare sushi to perfection. We tried a variety of rolls, including the Umami special, and they were all amazing. The ingredients were fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. We also ordered some appetizers and they were equally as delicious.

To top it all off, the manager, Barbara, came over to check on us and make sure everything was going well. She was warm and welcoming, and it was clear that she takes great pride in her restaurant.

Overall, Umami sushi restaurant was a fantastic experience. The food was exceptional and the service was top-notch, thanks to Nadia, Gamaiel, Yensy, and Barbara. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a...
