I stayed here with my husband for our honeymoon after we got married in San Miguel. We were exhausted after our wedding and managing both our families and guests and ready for a little romantic time alone. We didn’t make a big deal about having just gotten married, and neither did the hotel, though I thought they might put something a tiny bit special into our room. Our room was very nice and clean, but it was also the size of a closet, so don’t expect a huge space if you get a suite. The location is amazing and right downtown so we were happy with it. The first night we were there my husband and I both crashed, after going to dinner in downtown Guanajuato. We were anxious to get a full night sleep after all the stress from the wedding and went to bed relatively early for Mexico standards at about 11 pm.
We woke however, at about 2:30-3:00 AM, to someone pounding violently on our suite door. My husband got up, wearing what might be expected of a newlywed and went to the door, which was about a foot away from the bed and I, half awake, cracked my eyes open. My husband then looked out the door and didn’t see anyone there so he started opening it when a person (a small, very angry, and very drunk woman) started literally hurdling her full body weight at the door. My husband instinctively shoved it closed and I heard a woman’s voice cry out and swear, “no mames huevón!” I immediately called on the room phone to the front desk and told them that a woman was trying to get into our room and they said they were handling it, which didn’t feel entirely accurate since we almost had this woman literally join us on or bed. My husband and I were totally stunned, but we managed to go back to bed and decided to leave any further investigation to the morning. A few hours later another racket commenced with a man and again a woman yelling. This time my husband went out in his robe and noticed other guests outside of their rooms too. The commotion then suddenly stopped.
Later the next day, I asked the desk what had happened and the deskman said he had actually been on duty and that a certain guest had been causing “escándalos” all week, as she had a drinking and partying problem and that she had gotten in a fight with her boyfriend and thought that our room was her room after he had locked her out. She had run away, but came back later for a second go. The deskman said she had finally been asked to leave, but mentioned nothing about the inconvenience to us nor did he ask us any questions. When we left I wrote on a feedback card about our experience at the hotel and how it had been very difficult to sleep and never heard anything back.
Additionally, the pool is really cute, but the jacuzzi was literally lukewarm when we were there, which was kind of gross. The breakfast included in the room was very satisfactory though, with ample amounts of cheese and meats and the ability...
Read morePoor customer service changed our 5 star to 1 star rating. My friend made an error in her initial reservation and discovered within a few days, and 6 weeks prior to our stay, that 5 rooms were booked instead of one. My friend emailed the hotel and received written confirmation from the hotel that the reservation was corrected. When we arrived, there were 5 rooms on the reservation. The kind and efficient front desk staff, Eileen, tried for an hour to correct this error, and continued to work on this during our three day stay, and after our return home 1 week later. It is still not resolved. There is no clear way to communicate with the hotel supervisor nor Staybridge as to how to correct this error. ||That being said, the local staff were very accommodating. The hotel is comfortable and in an ideal location. However, ultimately they have failed to respond responsibly and in a timely manner to resolving a significant error. No senior managerial hotel company staff have been available to my friend, nor was any contact information provided to us at the level required to address this. The front desk staff Eileen made a significant effort to intercede on our behalf, but she required supervisors to...
Read moreWe saw the photos in the hotel's website and liked what we saw. When you first enter this hotel it looks nice and charming. But when we entered the room it was a major disappointment. As far as I am concerned, the photos are a far cry from reality. For the price we paid we were assigned to a small room that was considered better than the regular room because it was classified as deluxe. The room was old (tired), the windows had "a view" to what may have been a courtyard but now was a dinky cafeteria. Very unpleasant. We had to keep the curtains closed at all times because anyone from other rooms or the foyer on the same floor could see into our room. Cero privacy. The bathroom very small and far too basic for the price. We had to put our suitcases on one of the beds due to a lack of space. The air conditioning was loud, but at least it worked. The jacuzzi was too cold for a jacuzzi as it was connected to the pool. Pool and jacuzzi were built in a corner with no view whatsoever. My wife and I would love to visit Guanajuato again, but will definitely not stay at...
