An absolute disgrace – never again! My family went to this restaurant twice. The first time was actually acceptable: we had some sandwiches, 6 beers, and the bill was around €80. Expensive, no doubt, but the food wasn’t bad, so we decided to give it another chance since it was right next to the beach where we were staying.
The second visit was a total disaster: we ordered burgers and a tostada, and the food was simply awful – no flavor at all, just appearance and size. Yet again, the bill was over €80, and this time we had only ordered water and soft drinks!
The worst part came at the end: when paying, the waiter asked if we wanted to leave a tip. We said we wouldn’t do it by card but gave cash – a 20-peso note. As we were leaving, another waiter ran after us with the receipt and the tip money, saying it was “far too little” and that we had to leave at least 20% to 30% of the total bill as a tip! We were shocked. We explained that the meal was already outrageously overpriced, that we had already left a tip (which is not even mandatory), but he kept insisting, saying that 20 pesos was “just 1 dollar,” that wages in Mexico are low, and that in Europe we earn a lot more.
My father, who has been to Mexico several times, immediately told him that’s not how it works and that nobody is obliged to leave anything. The waiter’s response was the final insult: “If that’s the case, then don’t come to Mexico.”
Unbelievable disrespect, absurd prices, bland food, and rude, greedy staff. I will make sure to warn all my friends and family not to make the same mistake. And I will also share this experience in Portuguese travel groups for people visiting Mexico, so they can avoid this place...
Read moreWe have been in Isla for a couple of weeks now and have come many days here at the beach club. It's probably one of the best spots to access the calm, clear waters for snorkeling. We have enjoyed our time here, and this is why we continue to return. The pros are the location and really good food. The cons are that I'm not sure they are actually putting the appropriate amount of liquor in the drinks. I typically can't drink 6 vodka and waters and not feel like I'm have 6 vodkas and waters, but here, I feel like I'm just drinking water. The service is really good when they are around but most of the time you have to get up and go find someone to help. The staff are usually at the bar conversing with customers and each other. But to be honest, it's like this at most beach clubs around here. Regarding drinks, I would probably ask for your liquor to be served separately so that you can add it yourself. Just to be sure, you are getting what you pay for. Their passion fruit margaritas are phenomenal, so that is what i have been getting. Please try one! Other than that, it's a fantastic spot to enjoy the beautiful beach. We also ate dinner at the restaurant one night and the food was great. As well as the delicious chicken sandwich i had for lunch on the beach during the day. The food was all actually quite good. I will continue to visit here because of the location, food and margaritas. You should visit too! You won't be...
Read moreHad a blast at Oceanvs! My boyfriend and I hit it up and snagged a daybed right off the bat. Forgot our towels, but no worries – they hooked us up with rentals. Major shoutout to the hostess/manager with the hat – she was not only super helpful but incredibly nice too. Wish I could remember her name! She nailed it with the drink recs: a killer strawberry watermelon spicy margarita and a mezcal hibiscus drink – both were off the charts!
Props to our server Valentina, too – she was totally on point. We tried the 'Return to Life' ceviche, a tad sweet at first, but we added some spicy salsa and it was perfect. Then came the Aguachile – it was a showstopper both in presentation and taste. Absolutely fire, easily one of the best I’ve ever had.
Valentina kept our experience smooth and enjoyable, and the vibe was just right with tunes from the beach club next door and stunning views.
One small thing – some pillows on those daybeds would’ve been the cherry on top. But even without them, we had an amazing time. Definitely heading back to...
