In A Nutshell:
-Balam Balam needs to be PUT-ON-THE-MAP! -In business since 1986, the owner Antonio has speaks excellent English due him living in San Francisco, L.A., Miami & New York City. -It's definitely a "locals" streetfood spot, located alongside the Rio Cuale, beneath some guamúchil trees, which Antonio happily picks its fruit for you to try. -The Ceviche Tostadas one w/ Shrimp & the other w/ Octopus were the b*mb. -The Octopus was so soft & tender, I thought it was gonna be rubbery & I'm glad I was wrong. -If you love pescado + grilling you need to order the Mackerel or the Red Snapper. -The Red Snapper was lathered in a garlic & oil coating, had crispy skin & moist delicious white meat. -The service was awesome, Antonio will offer some friendly conversation & you can get as many Fresh Tortillas, Avocados & Cucumbers as you want to eat. -The total cost was less than $20 USD or 288 pesos.
Overall, This place exceeded my expectations! If you are in PV, make sure you come eat here & help make this place get...
Read moreI found out about this place last year, but we didn't get the chance to try it...so this year, we definitely had to make time to go try it out! We started off with the shrimp and octopus botana to start with our beers...Me and dad ordered the red snapper! Damn!!! it was really delicious, super tender, lots of flavor! Mom ordered the breaded shrimp (big shrimps) she really liked it. Husband got the shrimp ceviche, and he's not a sea food fan but said it was delicious and not fishy at all. It was calm vibes, relaxing place right next to the water! Nice breeze...nice location...deeper inside away from tourists... awesome customer service...dad tried the indigenous made liquor they offered and said it was bomb...super strong... more of a local place but glad we found it! We would definitely be going back. If you want some good seafood, try this place. Promise you won't be...
Read moreJust happened to walk by and noticed the red snapper slow-grilling. There was a cheerful vibe going on here. Situated on the banks of the Cuale River, this little eatery is chock full of neighborhood, family home-cooked feels. I decided to give it a try and was blown away by the perfection of flavors. Guacamole, salsas, grilled red snapper and a mineral water! $350 mx. Everything in their well-thought menu in is a win. Their chefs know flavor! Even the egrets know a good thing! They feed these precocious birds and the frenzy that ensues is quite entertaining. The owners and staff are inviting and personable and may even share a glass of raicilla with you while entertaining you with stories and conversation. There also have a restroom for use if needed. You cannot go wrong here. It’s a must-try in Puerto Vallarta,...
