26/02/2023 UPDATE! We've Eat(en) at Davids at least 3 times since initial revuew was written. I'm happy to say that each subsequent visit has been excellent! We will keep going back.
What a great find!! Away from the crazy loud bars and touristy spots, Eat At Davids is quiet and unassuming. Being in Puerto Vallarta for a long stretch of time, every now and then we want just some regular US home cooking. Look no further.
Tonight's specials were 1) BBQ Ribs with mac and cheese and a monster helping of cole slaw; 2) Fillet Mignon with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. There were 7 of us. 3 got ribs, 3 got steak and 1 chose the Ceasar Salad with Shrimp.
As with most Mexican restaurants, meals are an ordeal and never rushed. It seemed to take longer than usual to have our orders taken by the chef and a bit of time to be served. That's just Mexico.
The wait was well worth it. My ribs were super moist, tender and tasty with an unfamiliar sauce, not like US ribs, but delicious all the same. The mac and cheese, superb!
Comments from our companions were upbeat and happy, seems like everyone was thrilled with the pick and the prices are easy on the pockets.
The staff is kind, efficient and professional. Someone asked if David was around...the mild mannered waiter whispered, very seriously "David has died"
David left a fine legacy. We...
Read moreThis restaurant is around the corner from my mother-in-law's house, and it was always one of her favorite places so we go there pretty often. They specialize in North American cuisine, which you might think would be a hard sell in Vallarta, but there are so many Norte Americanos spending all winter down there that they get lonesome for home style food. Even though we never spend more than a few weeks at a time there, I have to admit to wanting to eat something more familiar, usually at about the eighth or tenth day. When that day arrives we always go down to Eat at Davids. The owners are great, Rosa runs the front and Alfredo runs the back, and Sammy works on the busy nights. The food is always great, and they have plenty of regulars to attest to that. They have weekly specials every night, the favorites seem to be the friday night fish and chips, followed closely by the tuesday night fried chicken (my wife's fave) and the every-other-sunday-turkey dinner. If you're a gringo in need of something a little more familiar for dinner, give them a try. You won't be...
Read moreWe had dinner at Eat at David’s and couldn’t be happier to have chosen this place. We followed a suggestion by Greg and Hillary Kennon (they posted a video about the place on their YouTube channel). Loved the food and the service! We had a pizza and a Ceasar salad with chicken, as well as chicken strips and fries. The food was delicious and was more than enough for the two of us (two young men with an appetite increased by three hours of stand up paddling, so you can guess the portions are very hearty and we had leftovers to take away...)The service was very dedicated, the place is very clean and comfortable. Ask for the house’s salsa picante! The bill was under 500 pesos (including a Corona and a Coke), which is about 27 dollars. Definitely...
