All in all it was a really good dining experience. The hospitality was nothing but warm and welcoming. Charlie is very good at making a memorable dining experience. Since we are so familiar with Vietnamese food, we find it hard not to compare it to our previous dining spots in San Francisco and in Providence, RI. Actually, our all time favorite is a small restaurant on the west side of Providence. However, Charlie's food came pretty close. The appetizers were delicious - we had the salad rolls with pork and a spicy peanut sauce, the spring rolls with a dipping sauce, and fried dumplings with a traditional sweet and sour sauce similar to nuoc cham. The pho we shared was flavorful with vermicelli noodles, eye of round steak and vegetables adorned with onion, bean sprouts and fragrant basil. The broth was delicious and rich - having most likely simmered for hours to get the richest flavor. The only critique we have was that the soup was not hot enough. It was warmer than room temperature but should have been steaming when it came to the table. We also shared a flavorful Vietnamese curry chicken, a sweet and savory curry that was delicious.
I was disappointed that they were out of the bahn mi bread, so no sandwiches. Due to the Friday holiday and the upcoming Tuesday Presidential inauguration festivities, his bread purveyor was closed for 4 days. However, he assured me that we could come back on Wednesday and he would have bahn mi for us!
Charlie was so gracious. We had earlier arrived at our airbnb and had gone to market for breakfast items, Of course, they were out of eggs. Feeling comfortable, I asked if I could buy a few eggs to take home with me. A seemingly silly question, but with out hesitation, Charlie went to the kitchen and came back with eggs!
A very positive dining experience and we highly recommend "It's Pho! " The cheque was more expensive than we anticipated on spending but with everything, it was...
Read moreIt’s my very first time putting five stars all around. Almost wasn’t going to do it, because I would like to keep this place a hidden gem, but I also want the chef/staff to have this place packed 24/7. I’ll start with the service: Juan Carlos was my waiter and we actually started off on the wrong foot. He spoke to me in English thinking I was American (and I’ve gotten used to it, plus, many foreigners visit the spot). But, he quickly apologized and recommended an amazing Vietnamese tea. Then, I ordered the dumplings, the chicken pho and finished it with an amazing coconut flan. Unfortunately I forgot to take pics of most of my meal, but remembered to take a photo of my dessert, it’s a must try. The place is cozy/friendly. I just hope that when it gets too packed they’ll remember to save me a spot...
Read moreHands down, best pho I've had in Mexico so far! The broth was pretty darn good. It was a bit salty but it wasn't something that I couldn't handle. It still had the aromatics and depth of a solid pho broth. As a matter of fact, first walking into the restaurant the spices used to season the broth is what first caught my attention and it made my mouth water. The beef was a thicker cut. It wasnt the almost paper thin cuts that usually come with the soup. This might be a cultural thing or a supply thing. But regardless the beef was still good quality. The gentleman working let me know that there was also a location in Houston, TX. I will be making a trip out there soon and I'll look up the TX location. If you need a break from tacos or it's a chilly day please come here and get a bowl! You won't be...
