My Mom and I are staying at Casa Del Sol and decided to try this place for dinner tonight..we were greeted by Ricardo..he was very friendly and super attentive.. he even asked our names and said goodbye when we left. I chose the pumpkin flower soup..it was absolutely stunning..it was presented like we were in a Michelin star restaurant..but honestly all of the food was. I got the slow roast pork rib with pickled vegetables and a wonderful sauce. We had homemade tortillas. My Mom got the red snapper in a veracruze sauce with olives and capers..which was cooked to perfection . We had a few margaritas which were delicious and infused with cucumber..we even decided to do dessert Mom had coffee ice cream..I had the coconut flan..ok..there's flan..ok..boring..no ..not this..it was rich, creamy and such a deep flavor..we are in covid times..servers wore mask and sanitized customers hands. The restaurant was pretty busy with alot of regulars. Service was in minutes. To top it off..whats the worst part of the meal? Getting the check..not here..it comes in a decorated porcelain turtle..dinner was very resonable..and we are here a few more days and will go back before we leave.. thank you Ricardo and team for a wonderful dinning experience. My family and I came to visit my mom here in Ajijic. She was dying to take us to Teocintle, her favorite spot to eat. We arrived later than expected and so we hadn’t made a reservation. The staff was kind enough to squeeze us into their Friday night dinner crowd and we sat upstairs on the patio getting to look at the views as the sun set. Service from Ricardo was amazing. Great recommendations, service, and atmosphere. Gloria and her team in the kitchen were superb. For the appetizer we ordered the coconut shrimp which we all loved. My grandpa ordered bacon wrapped pork loin prepared with a fruity tangy tangerine sauce. My mom got the special which was a coconut crusted fish with a cream almond sauce. Delish. I ordered a birria style pork shank which they prepared beautifully with beans, rice, and pickled onions. Ricardo brought up some maiz tortillas and that was a great way to eat my meal. I recommend this place to anyone near Ajijic. We’ll be back!

My wife and I visited Ajijic for a month and fell in love with Teocintle Maiz. During our stay we visited there 3 times. I have managed fine dining restaurants in the past and have an appreciation of good service and food. I have to say that Teocintle absolutely nailed it. It’s evident that the chef LOVES food and Cooks and presents it beautifully. On our first experience we each had the Teocintle salad and my wife had the Chicken Cordon Bleu while I tried the pork shank. We were blown away, all the dishes were beautifully presented and they tasted even better. We left with smiles on our faces knowing that we had surely eaten in one of the finest restaurants in Mexico. The next two visits were just as good as the first. If you love good food and good service you have to visit Teocintle Maiz… at least once.

The service is so bad. Our first time here, and definitely the last. People have told me it’s great, and I’ve attempted to come here before, but, until tonight I have not been able to get a table. I had high expectations, and this restaurant did not meet them unfortunately.

The waiter took the drink order and then another waiter came up and took the drink order again, 10 minutes later. 2 minutes later the second waiter came back and confirmed the drink order, incorrectly. We ordered the drinks and 10 minutes later, the drinks came. We’ve been here over an hour now, and our food is still not here.

The food has arrived. It is average at best. The restaurant has good ambiance but it’s less than average. Now, we’ve finished eating and 10 minutes ago, I asked for the bill. Again, not sure how this place has such good reviews. People seem to have really low standards in Ajijic.

Based on the price and the very low level of service; even though the food was pretty good, I would never recommend this...
