Flamante Burgers & Friends — Restaurant in Mérida

Certain non-alcoholic Mexican drinks here are overpriced, even higher than when I find them in the states. The fries are greasy and tasteless. Burgers are decently priced when paying in USD, but they are far from being good burgers. The burger meat itself has the same texture of chewed up meat. I think the burgers here are boiled or steamed. They’re not very tasty and the texture is off putting. My entire party decided the same. We asked a table over if they liked the burgers and they said they really did. They were from Europe whereas we are from Northern Mexico and the States. Perhaps we’re just used to a juicy firmer burger. But if you can understand how poor the ground meat they use is then I would recommend not giving this burger place a chance and going elsewhere. Additionally bacon was fridge cold, order wasn’t correct, and no napkins were available at the table until we were just leaving. The chicken burger was great. I had it without cheese and it had a nice crunch and some veggies. No sauces leaking out anywhere. A non-pretentious burger that was the right size and flavor.

I also had the sweet potato fries. These were actually like chips (see pic). You get ketchup with it, which is the only option.

My GF had the bacon burger, which was richly filled and tasted great but had a bit too much cheese. She had the Yuca fries with it, which are deep-fried pieces of cassava. A nice addition although cassava itself doesn’t have a lot of flavor.

The atmosphere was mediocre. It’s a simple place with little decoration, lighting, or other things to set the mood. The music was too loud, but that seems to be a Mexican thing, because it’s been too loud in every single restaurant we’ve been to in the week we’ve been here.

We went for a walk ( May 2022 )and tripped on this small burger shop. What a find! Great burgers and fries. The burgers were large with generous toppings. The drinks, chocolate shake and the fruit fizz were cold and refreshing. Service with a smile made us feel welcome. NO alcohol, which can be a good change sometimes.
