This is a cute spot, not pretentious and a good choice for breakfast. I definitely liked it better than Pan & Koffee.
I had the eggs Benedict. It was really tasty but unfortunately it was cold - which is the worst and easiest way to make a great dish not so great. The side salad was really good! Still trying to figure out what greens they used.
My partners dish was interesting. He got the El Granero. They had a whole habanero in there seeds and all… given the nature of the dish he didn’t know since it was a black bean soup consistency and he was crying from the intense heat. It definitely ruined his experience. He’s not shy around heat either but a whole pepper is a lot for anyone. He didn’t want to cough either because then everyone would have thought he had Covid… He said the pork was really fatty but that’s what Porchetta is so I think part of his disappointment might have been just him not knowing what he ordered. The dish came with fresh bread and that was heavenly!!!
Service was fantastic. No complaints about that!
We arrived too late to get any pastries. All they had were cookies. Get here early if you want to secure a croissant or a tart. They look absolutely delicious in the photos.
We will come again - just won’t order the same things. We were really after...
Read moreWe stayed in Mérida for three days and ate at SOCO Mérida every day. We had full brunch on our first visit, coffee and pastries on our second visit, and a full breakfast on our last visit. Everything we drank and ate was fantastic: the coffee, pastries, and main dishes were a pleasure to experience. Be warned, however, the pastries are made fresh every day and they are mouth-watering so you need to arrive early for the best selection. If you want something more filling, I highly recommend the chilaquiles, which are bowls lined with tortilla chips covered with a layer of red or green salsa, refried beans, avocado, and your choice of toppings which can include eggs, chicken, sausage, etc. added.
The place only has a few tables and counter-seating and it’s very popular so you may have to wait to get a seat, but the wait is worth it. And the staff are very welcoming and...
Read moreWow what a gem in Merida! It’s tucked away and you could almost miss it if you were passing by but oh my it is well worth seeking it out. The staff are welcoming, the breads and pastries are artisan as is the coffee. And I can honestly say I had the most amazing sandwich of my life here. Calling it a sandwich does not do justice to the culinary masterpiece of flavors between fresh baked bread that I was served. I ordered grilled veggie sandwich and added freshly grilled chicken I was thinking it would be a basic sandwich but it truly was incredible with beautifully grilled zucchini, cauliflower, mushrooms and chicken on fresh bread with the most flavorful pesto like dressing made of almonds, hazelnuts and roasted red peppers. I swear it was life changing. We stopped here to get lunch provisions for our drive to Cancun and now it’s a destination I will...
