Yucantina Restaurante — Restaurant in Mérida

This used to be one of our favorite spots to go with friends for the most delicious fish and shrimp tacos and really good cocktails. The service is still great and we are happy that we always are greeted with the same very kind, upbeat and friendly waiter. Lately the past 2 times we've been however; the drinks are now in larger glasses with no garnishes, taste sickly sweet and seem to taste of very little alcohol. They used to be nicely presented, but now a cocktail tastes like nothing but really sweet, watered down juice. So disappointing!

The food is okay but inconsistent. 2 of our first orders were served cold and one of my shrimp tacos had so much spicy sauce on it that I could hardly eat it, I had to wipe some of it off. I think that maybe one of the waitstaff overheard us mention that our food taste good but that it was a little bit cold and with too much salsa picante. I'm not sure what was said, but appreciated that everything that came out of the kitchen after the comment was made, was served hot and to our liking.

We really used to enjoy coming here a few months ago and would recommend to others for the great, inexpensive drinks, and tacos. Please do yourself a favor and bring back your old drinks, stop changing the way you make them (or find a bartender who really knows how to make them) and go the extra mile and have your waiters ask customers if everything is okay with their orders. We would have no problem returning if some improvements...

SCAMMERS, they tried to scam us out of happy hour prices. They said it does not apply on Sunday but this is not mentioned on the menu or on the sign ourside. After they try to day it doesn't apply to some domestic beers even though the text very clearly states all domestic beers without any reservations. Service was very poor but eventually adjusted the bill after much debate. Do not recommend!

They replied saying we tried to "play the waiter" which is insane. There was nothing mentioned about this on the menu or on the sign as they claim. That's why they don't...

If you go there to have a beer that's fine, you have a lot of choice and the price is quite cheap. However if you want to have diner there, just go somewhere else. The food is ok but the portions are ridiculously small, I ordered fries and for more than 45 pesos I got not more than 10-15 sorry fries in such a small plate... Knowing that potatoes cost around 30 pesos a kg here, having not more than 50g of fries is a complete scam. Otherwise, same disappointment about the quantities in the other dishes we ordered but not...
