Disappointed to say the least… Let me just start by saying the ONLY positive thing: Service was great. Waiters were extremely attentive.
Aside from that, Archiebald was the most disappointing restaurant I’ve visited in a while. When I first read the menu, I was extraordinarily excited (I love steakhouses and it looked great) so we went ahead and ordered three different entrees (Artichoke dip, crab cakes and cesar salad) which none were remarkable or even memorable. Every entree was meh - not bad but not good either.
My boyfriend and I shared a Ribeye and a Wagyu “smash burger” - these were extremely disappointing. For starters, when I asked for the Ribeye (Med-Well) they told me they would rather cook it till Medium, since they could potentially OVERCOOK the meat. Isn’t this a steak house? You are supposed to know HOW to cook meat - no matter the term.
So we settled for Medium.
Then, the “Wagyu” burger which was allegedly meant to be smashed. It wasn’t. There was no “crust” like the usual smash burgers - no flavor actually (which is weird for wagyu) and honestly, I think the burger was pretty bad.
Soggy bun, flavorless meat. no crust, over peppered. Just.. one of the worst burgers I’ve had in a restaurant. This was no smash burger - I think i’d rather get a shake shack. At least that one’s got flavor (still not good but better than this).
Overall - everything was lackluster. Nothing was great, nothing was worth the buck. I think the only two things we enjoyed were my cappuccino and the honey/butter bread.
Don’t let “aesthetically” pleasing food fool you. Not gonna be worth it.
I’m only ranking it two starts because of their...

He looked at it and took it away without saying anything. Didn't even replace the cup or apologize. Our server only checked on us once...only asking how the house bread was. Never came back to refill our water. Restaurant was not even full. Food was ok, expensive for the quality offered. Not many cocktails choices on the English menu even though they have a big bar. Also had another language barrier asking for hot water, we thought she was boiling distilled water, ended up bringing us still water bottle with ice. Had to use Google translate. However they are the only restaurant to offer an English menu. I guess because the service is not up to par that's why it's not affiliated with the hotel. There are way better restaurants...
Read moreThis was the best steakhouse that we have ever been to in the world. The food was just outstanding. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and the raw tuna, magaru, for our starters. The shrimp cocktail was the best we have ever tasted. The tuna sashimi was as good or better than any we've had in Japan.
For our main we both had the fillet mignon which comes sliced and with mashed potatoes that are to due for. The steak was done to perfection. We also had the creamed spinach which was delicious.
We had a bottle of Mexican red wine from Baja California, mainly Cab Sav grapes. Actually I had better Mexican reds but I was keen to spend a lot for wines I'm not familiar with. Even the brioche rolls were wonderful.
This was our best meal in our two weeks in Mexico. A surprise to be wowed for a non-Mexican meal. This restaurant is a treasure. Great service...
