Curry & Kabab — Restaurant in Mexico City

I am all for expanding availability of Indian food in Mexico City, where quality is sadly lacking, and hope this establishment well. However, sadly lacking describes today. Rice was listed as basmati; definitely not. Bread was sold as naan, but some form of pita from a local store. I don't know what the kebab was, but nothing I've encountered in hundreds of Indian restaurants worldwide. Spices were dumped in without grinding, you tended to bite into them. Vegetable dish was as bland as milk, no spice. Samosas were the highlight, better than average. Overall, a lot of effort needs to occur to make this approach Indian food-- in particular, I'd recommend finding actual Basmati rice (not hard) and keeping it onhand in a rice cooker-- and figuring out how to bake naan! Atmosphere and service nice, 4* a bit generous but they are new. Good...

Pésima comida y servicio que no cumple con los protocolos de higiene y COVID. Les di 2 intentos porque están a una cuadra de mi Air BnB: la mujer que trabaja allí es grosera, no usa máscara y me pidió directamente una propina del 20% para un pedido para llevar. La comida estaba bien, pensé en pedir algo más y ver, ya que están tan cerca de mí.

La próxima vez que hice un pedido a través de Uber Eats, lo pagué por adelantado a través de la aplicación y el cliente lo recogió directamente.

Llegué y encontré no una, sino tres personas que no llevaban máscara y que aparentemente no entendían cómo funciona Uber come porque una vez insistieron en que cancelara el pedido a través de Uber y les pagara directamente ... No solo es imposible una vez que realiza el pedido a través de la aplicación, sino que simplemente está mal. Continuaron tratando de rodearme; de ​​hecho, tuve que pedirles que respetaran los requisitos de distancia social, dos veces.

Encontré otro restaurante, menos aceitoso, con más opciones y en realidad más barato llamado Tandoor a un par de cuadras de distancia que era súper agradable y entendía cómo funciona Uber Eats.

No desperdicie su dinero o energía aquí, sin mencionar que se arriesgue con su salud, si se comportan de esta manera frente a los clientes, no quiero pensar en lo que hacen en la parte de atrás cuando preparan la comida.

Terrible food and service not abiding by hygiene and COVID protocols. I gave them 2 tries as they are one block from my Air BnB - the woman who works there is rude, doesn’t wear a mask and asked me outright for a 20% tip for a take out order. The food was just okay - I thought I’d order something else and see since they’re so close to me.

The next time I ordered through Uber Eats - paying for it upfront through the app and as a direct customer pick up.

Arrived to find not one but three people not wearing a mask who apparently don’t understand how Uber eats work because they once insisted I cancel the order through Uber and pay them directly...WHAT? Not only is that impossible once you order through the app but just wrong. They kept trying to surround me - I actually had to ask them to respect the social distance requirements, twice.

I found another restaurant - less oily, more options and actually cheaper called Tandoor a couple blocks away who were super nice and understood how Uber Eats works.

Don’t waste your money or energy here - not to mention take that chance with your health - if they behave this way in front of customers I don’t want to think about what they do in the back when...

Everyone that has given this place four or five stars must not be educated about proper Indian food, because this place is not it. The restaurant has a vast menu of traditional Indian fare, however, the execution is woefully inept. Tandoori chicken should be juicy, succulent, and ripe with flavor. Not here. The chicken pieces used for Tha tandoori chicken were the same as used within the chicken Tikka masala; both tasted like frozen chicken pieces one could purchase at Costco drenched in 'Indian' spices like Garam masala, curry powder, turmeric, etc. This tasted like more of a kindergarten cooking attempt versus what should be served at an actual restaurant.
