I don't like leaving negative reviews because I also am subject to reviews in my line of work and hate it. However, I admit that they're necessary and in this case, I want to share the information to help others. I hadn't looked at reviews before I went because a friend of mine lives near this place and wanted to try it, so I just went. In this case, I wish I had. To start with, the selection in the veggie section of the menu were very limited. If I remember correctly (I know I'm in the ball park), there were 4 potato dishes, 2 chickpea and I think 1 or 2 others. I wasn't impressed by the variety. Usually Indian restaurants are fantastic for vegetarians and vegans. This one was not. The samosas were flat, not much filling and they had no sauces that were vegan. No chutney of any kind to eat with them. Entree price of what I chose was only $150 pesos, which was surprisingly low. But I didn't realize until after the food arrived that the curry I ordered didn't include rice. To add white rice was $95. For white rice, more than half the cost of the entree? Come on now. The actual volume of the entree was not good either. I'd estimate that there was 1 cup or so, which would be fine if it was fantastic....but it wasn't. It was entirely average in flavor. I could do better at home and I'm not Indian. Also, twice I bit down on some whole spice that blew out my entire palate. I think cardamom? It was an odd flavor for a chickpea curry. So yeah, I have to say that I recommend not giving this...
Read moreI had an absolutely awful experience at this Indian restaurant. When we arrived, the place was completely empty—probably the first red flag, but my kid was really craving biryani, so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there.
The hostess greeted us with the most unwelcoming energy, as if she couldn’t care less about having customers. We ordered biryani and specifically asked for medium spice—their menu clearly stated options for no spice, medium, or spicy.
When our biryani arrived, it was so outrageously spicy that it was almost inedible. My 5-year-old couldn't even touch it. I expressed my concern, but the staff's dismissive attitude was infuriating.
What really upset me was her lack of concern. Instead of offering to replace the dish or make it right, she kept doubling down, insisting this was normal. Mind you, the restaurant was still completely empty, so it’s not like they were too busy to help. We finally asked for some yogurt to tone down the heat, but even that didn’t help. She eventually brought out a small plate of veggie rice, which didn’t remotely make up for the original dish.
The complete lack of care for the customer and terrible service ruined the meal. It honestly felt like the biryani was made with straight Shaan Biryani Masala, no adjustments, no balance. If you’re thinking about dining here, save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. This place...
Read moreThis restaurant was a revelation. How did we get so lucky to have it next to our hotel in Mexico City! I have been fortunate in life to have visited and eaten Indian food at the Lake Palace Hotel in Udaipur India. It was the best I had ever had, until now. Dish for dish this is sublime. The careful mix of authentic spices are not dimmed by trying too hard to avoid being spicy. That said the dishes are not hot unles you want them to be. Each dish has its own flavor profile and surprises the tongue each time! Please treat yourself to what I think must be some of the best Indian family of foods in the Western Hemisphere. Could I give it ten stars, I would. Doug Rice Seattle,...
