We were looking for somewhere with great drinks (both delicious and strong) as well as good food. I've also been craving Guadalajara tortas. After visiting the park on a sunday we were walking back and saw this spot. Decided to give it a try and what a great decision.
We started with a mezcalita - strong, not sweet, good size, fair price and delicious.
Of course we got the Torta Ahogada. My husband didn't know what it was and when a sandwich came in a bowl of soup, he didn't know what to make of it. Then he tasted it and it was delicious. Crisp, hard bread soaked up the flavorful soup, with a generous helping of meat which dropped into the soup as we ate the sandwiches with a plastic glove. Since I guess we look like tourists, the spice was served on the side, and we mixed it with our torta and soup. Very spicy and delicious.
The young man who served us seemed to be working the entire restaurant, was extremely polite and attentive. While busy, he waited patiently at our table for us to debate among ourselves about the menu (since only one of us speaks spanish).

Read moreWow! I'm just sad I came here for drinks since I had just had dinner but the items we ordered to munch on were AMAZING! The ceviche de camaron (shrimp) en salsa negra was so delicious and spicy! So proceed with caution. The chicharron de pescado (deep fried fish) with the beans and salsa in a taco were the perfect combination! The red salsa was delicious but not spicy so I ordered the black sauce from the ceviche on the side and it was excellent! The jarrito pialadero is what we had all night long needless to say it was really good. The service was superb. Valet parking is available and the restrooms are really clean. It is a two floor building, we were upstairs...
Read moreThis restaurant will remind you of the wonderful cuisine of Guadalajara. I like the interior of the second floor more. There are painted walls with rodeo motifs and many cozy corners. The furniture is made of genuine leather, even the tabletops. The staff is friendly, the service is fast and attentive. The food tastes like the original from Guadalajara, but there are still nuances. The soup was very salty, and the beans were harder than they should be. The guacamole was bland. The lemonade was very sour. Overall, if you try this food for the first time, it could be a strong 4, but since there is something to compare it with, it...
