A green sticky tape with marker-written was found in my taco, I had to spit it out and left with a discussing taste in my mouth. The tape was about 1.5 ish inches long and half inch wide, obviously was used to label ingredients or some sorts. I’m very surprised how they didn’t see it served in pulled pork. Unacceptable.
When I called the server and showed him the tape, he took the half bitten taco away with no explanation. About 5 mins later a manager looking person came to my table apologized with the food re-done. I simply can’t trust the food anymore and asked for the bill, then he said it is taken care of. The gesture is appreciated, however I’d rather pay and not have eaten a gluey limey tape.
I came here from taco recommendations by Joshua Weissman, the food YouTuber. After eating at several places suggested in his video, I rate his recommendations a 3/10 aka above average American but disappointing for...

Castacan, tucked into the vibrant Roma district of CDMX, captures the essence of Mexico’s street food culture with quiet confidence. The space is entirely lined with colorful tiles, its metallic tables and folding chairs both inside and out underscoring the restaurant’s unassuming charm.
The guacamole, velvety and fresh, arrives on a simple plastic plate—a humble presentation that fits the place perfectly—and pairs beautifully with hand-pressed corn tortillas still warm from the comal.
The cochinita pibil, tender and fragrant with achiote, is the star: juicy, flavorful pork that needs little more than a squeeze of lime and a spoonful of the house’s fiery habanero sauce. Service is brisk but genuinely attentive, echoing the warmth that defines the best of Mexico City’s casual dining scene.
At around $28 USD, it’s a fair price for good food in one of the city’s most appealing neighborhoods—a low-frills feast that lingers in memory.

Read moreSuper disappointed with this place. The parts of the food that were supposed to be crispy were super hard. I came here because I saw josh Weissmans video, and the castacan with guacamole was chewey and a bit hard. The lechon with castacan hurt my teeth. It was so hard that it was barely edible. The cochinita pibil was excellent. But with tacos on every corner for 12 pesos this was outright terrible. 60 pesos per taco and 60 pesos per beer is almost what i would expect to pay in america. Maybe they had a bad day, might be worth a try. Walking distance to castille de chapultapec, so literally only worth it for the youtube nostalgia. If thats...
