Elly´s Restaurant — Restaurant in Mexico City

Had high hopes for this place, especially after seeing all the reviews and amazing pictures of perfectly cooked prime rib. I ordered the Diamante cut medium-rare — and I got something that was literally well-done. The servers asked if the doneness was to my liking, and while the flavors were great, it simple wasn’t what I ordered. I’m not one to send food back, but this time I had to. What was returned to me, however, was still medium-well. I figured the restaurant didn’t have any medium-rare pieces so I didn’t bother asking to re-do it. For $900 MXN, I expected much more.

That being said, the service was attentive and the salad was fantastic. Just wish I could’ve said the same for the star...

A unos pasos del Auditorio Nacional y Reforma, Elly’s Prime Rib es una joya escondida que combina lo rústico y lo elegante en un ambiente que recuerda a una acogedora cabaña. Sin embargo, lo que realmente eleva la experiencia gastronómica es el postre: el cheesecake de chongos Zamoranos con cajeta y licor. Este pastel es una obra maestra, con una textura perfecta y un equilibrio de sabores que lo convierten en el mejor cheesecake de la ciudad.

Food was horrible. At 7:30pm out of squid. Octopus was fried and very thin. Chose the ribeye, asked for rare, it was 10mm think at most. Served on a sizzling hot plate. Was well done by time it arrived at table. I get the sizzling plate all the time. Normally it’s a nice thick cut of meat. Yes, that blood in picture but definitely was poured on. Try someplace else....
