Hule — Restaurant in Mexico City

Unfortunately was treated very poorly by one of the male staff members. The coffee machine was broken however my partner and I still wanted to eat there as we love the food and have visited many times and had a lovely experience.

Unfortunately this time was different. I don’t usually leave reviews but the way we were treated and spoken to - I just had to. We asked if it were okay to purchase a take away coffee down the road and bring it to the shop as the coffee machine was broken - and he said it would take another hour to fix. We both had to catch an international flight home so we could not wait. The man said it was okay but wasn’t sure if his boss would mind. No communication was exchanged after this. When we went to pay he spoke horribly to us, telling me to “make sure I listen to him next time I come”. He didn’t give us the bill and made us pay for the coffees without telling us - and then proceeded to ask for a tip. If this wasn’t allowed he should have just said so- we wouldn’t have mind. But instead he purposefully overcharged us without any communication.

We didn’t realize until we got back to our hostel - my partner went back to ask why we had been charged more and he was met with nothing but snark comments and a “that’s what you get” attitude.

All he needed to say was sorry, you can’t bring them here and we would have understood.

Such a poor experience for a lovely cafe with a lovely menu, and otherwise...

8.5/10 stars - I will happily return.

The place itself is beautiful with plentiful seating indoors and out. I'd like to specifically call out the opportunity to sit outdoors on the entry sidewalk, but also a bonus space in the "backyard" of the shop that looks homey and beautiful.

I visited with a friend and we had only two concerns. I ordered an Americano with leche, but the milk was not added. I can forgive this issue as I'm just as guilty for not speaking up.

My friend's concern is also an observation. In the past the shop had a large selection of kombucha. His disappointment is the now very narrow choice options. Unfortunately he had to choose a flavor he does not like. Again, his choice.

Bottomline: Our concerns are also our responsibility in choice and speaking up.

It was one of my fave spots in Mexico City. Sadly, it has been changing during the last few months and today I just felt like it wasn't a good place to go. I tried to give my feedback but nobody really cares so I rather to post it here.

No more kombucha with different flavours? Any other coffee in the area will offer at least 3/5 options. No more hot chocolate? It's the third time there is no almond milk. It is just unacceptable. Sitting on the table outside for longer than 30 minutes and I had to get my order in the desk. They barely care about my order. It is just not right!

The music still good, the atmosphere still cute, but everything else was really poor. So, it's gonna be my last time at Hule. Very pity that a great concept for a coffee shop will change...
