Wallace Whisky Bar — Restaurant in Mexico City

First this place is very autentic and has very good atmosphere, i first came here with a few friends for cocktails. I got the whiskey cocktail Pencillin, which was good but a little unbalanced to the sweet side, but really good service - top notch, very aware staff. Second time i went alone and had beers and a few Ka San Tiki cocktails for a very reasonal price, ended paying 700 incl. tips for 3 cocktails and 8 beers or so, small details with the staff went wrong, nothing worth mentioning. Third time is now, ive seen the recommendations and therefore didnt order food before now, i had a pizza (quesos) in my experience its above standard, not fine-dining, but its good, and would for sure order food here again. And its worth to mention the staff is very aware, kind and appropiate today. And with that said i usually have high standards for food and cocktails since im a professional bartender and foodie.

Concusion: Despite the minor defects about my first cocktail and the staff sencond time, i would surely recommend this to friends. This is a great place with reasonable prices, except for the more expensive whiskey, they charge overprices and i had a feeling it was watered down a little, which i also have heard other comments on - im not totally sure about this, but its worth...

This visit turned out to be the biggest disappointment I experienced during my time in Mexico. After having what we ordered and going to pay the bill, the bartender gave us a demanding attitude and directly asked what percentage of a tip we would be leaving. At the time, there were two of us, we had only had one cocktail each and were leaving right away, and I didn't feel we had received particularly good service from the bartender, so I hesitated briefly as I didn't want to leave a large tip. While I was thinking, the bartender, with a demanding look and tone, repeatedly said, "10%? 10%?" I felt very unpleasant, but at the same time, I felt sympathetic toward the bartender's situation, having to act that way just to receive a few extra percent from a tourist. What a moody atmospheric sexy as f whisky house in a great location that you can just pass hours away trying whiskeys from all over the world. I only tried two as I was still trying to walk home at this point. A Glenlivit 12 year = yumtastic! And a Mexican corn whisky…well it was an experience I’m glad I had ONE time. Service was great and I could’ve easily stayed for a third, perhaps a Japanese whisky? They also have all kinds of cocktails and food too but since I was on a whisky only diet I concentrated on their specialty. I highly recommend - makes for a great date night.
