The second I stepped into this place, it was like stepping into a whole different world where everything is calm and relaxed. We ordered the Sushi Dragon and it was delicious and the citrus soy sauce was perfect with it. We also got the Gyoza de curry and it just melted in my mouth. The flavor was balanced and it wasn't overpowering at all. I got the Tom Yam Ramen and it had the perfect spice and the green onions and mushrooms were a perfect touch. We also got the Bang bang chicken, Green Salad and Fried Rice with Shrimp and they were all creatively made and tasted heavenly. My favorite was the Sushi Cake as it was crispy and delicious! I don't think I have ever tasted Mochi like this before, we tried the Lychee and Black Sesame and every bite was mind-blowing. The mousse de yuzu was creamy, crunchy and everything in between. I have to say that this is the best Japanese place I have ever been to. It's perfect for your first date, or an intimate dinner with close friends. I will definitely come here every time I visit this...
Read moreGreat restaurant with a few points for improvement: 1. The gyoza was obviously not fresh. It tastes like they were frozen right before they were cooked because the wrapper's consistency was like chewing gum. 2. The tonkatsu could be better by adding some fat. The pork cutlet was purely meat so it wasn't tasty enough. Maybe they tried to make it a "hire-katsu" that's lean but it was just dry. 3. The sauce of the tonkatsu should be more sweet. So lessen the soy sauce please.
Things we loved: 1. The Ramen Curry Coco, although wasn't traditional was amazing. It had the perfect curry taste. It was well balanced and the serving was huge. The noodles were okay but surely it'd be 100% if they made their own noodles. 2. The Dons we tried (Rice + Combination of meat & sashimi) were the best we've had. The japonica rice was also cooked perfectly. 👌 I would relate this to a poke bowl or a Chirashi 3. The interiors were nice. It's just unfortunate that photos weren't allowed.
In any case, will definitely come back to try the rest...
Read moreKoku is a solid place for Japanese cuisine, although the service could use some improvement. I was seated right when I arrived, just before the busy lunch rush. Unfortunately, my waiter seemed like he didn’t want to be there, which was a bit of a letdown. Although the server took my order quickly, his attitude wasn’t great.
I ordered a coconut curry ramen, which was served rather quickly and tasted delicious. I loved the broth and the noodles, although there weren’t many noodles served. The chicken in the ramen was a bit questionable, so I ate the rest and avoided the protein, which was a bit unfortunate. Prices were quite fair for the ramen (around $200), but the Topo Chico was a bit excessive at $65.
What took a while was paying the bill, which seemingly took forever. The ambiance of the restaurant was definitely a highlight, with a delightful outside back patio and a main hall featuring neon signs. Overall, Koku is a solid place to eat Japanese food, although the service could...
