Beware of the restaurant's scam! When my waiter, Jose, brought me the check, a woman in a polo shirt came from within the restaurant, presented herself as the chef, and asked how the food was. She said that for me to pay, they needed change in the register and requested that I break a 2000 peso note for the restaurant. Jose was next to the table while she said this. I said that I was paying by card, and she left. Then the waiter brought me a check and I gave him my card. The chef returned and said that even though I'm paying by card, they would still appreciate if I could break the note, so I gave 1700 pesos. I waited and waited, but did not receive my card nor the 2000 peso note from the restaurant. The waiters acted like they were confused as to where the chef went. I then asked for my card and the money, and they brought back my card, but this time with two separate checks, one of which was for a tab that was not mine. I asked why they were billing me for two checks, and they said, "la muchacha." I asked for my money, and they said that the woman who presented herself as a chef did not work there, but was just a customer. One waiter, who had braces and called himself "Mauricio," repeatedly laughed in my face during the incident. Jose said he allowed it to happen because they thought the woman had came to the restaurant with me, even though I came alone and ate alone for about one hour. They not only tried to scam me by bringing me an extra check, they stole my 1700 pesos. Beware of this...
Read moreThe leafy outdoor seating area drew us to this restaurant and once we checked the rating, we decided it was the place for us.
We ordered a glass of Merlot and a Modelo Especial with a green salad.
We tried to order half a Hawaiian and half a Spanish Pizza, but our waiter told us the Spanish Pizza special was only in the small size.
He also told us the small served one and the large served two, but the small would've been big enough for two. The table of four next to us ordered a large pizza and had a couple of extra slices left.
Despite having twice as much as we needed, the pizza was so fluffy and good. The dough was thick and flavorful and the toppings were fresh.
The salad was light and fresh, large enough for two people to share big servings.
We loved our meal at this casual pizzeria and the covered outdoor seating area was so lovely surrounded by greenery.
I'd definitely recommend this place for great pizza and salads in a lovely setting. They also have a 2 for 1 special on Aperol cocktails daily.
And the pizza was just as good reheated for a second...
Read moreI’ve loved Balboa ever since they opened. I think it’s one of my favorite pizza places in Mexico City. The dough is so fluffy and yummy that you need to try it. It’s not that thin and it’s not that thick, it’s just perfect. The toppings are super fresh. I remember the Margarita pizza used to taste a little bit better but it didn’t disappoint me. Today for two people we ordered a large pizza that was half a Margarita and half a Trufa y Hongos (truffle and mushrooms). Both had so many really fresh veggies, that I don’t feel guilty of not ordering salad. I like the ambience and that they have a new area on the street where you can eat safely. We also ordered the tiramisu which was delicious. I wish it had been larger! Oh and some beers, Negra Modelo won’t disappoint if you want some Mexican dark beer. I am happy I came back. Oh and finally the prices are great. We paid around 400 MXN for a great dinner for two, with left over pizza! I definitely keep recommending this jewel at...
