Kuma Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Mexico City

I’m very surprised by the 5 star rating because it honestly, far from being “amazing” or “the best sushi in CDMX!”.

First off, the counter seats make no sense. The counter is very high and the seats are low. It is extremely uncomfortable to sit and eat at the disproportional counter top. Secondly, both rolls I ordered, the rice was very loose. The rolls kept falling apart when I tried holding them With my chopsticks. Flavor was neither good nor bad. Very average. Thirdly, I really question the hygiene here. The sushi “chef” was using a really old and dirty rag to clean the cutting board. The raw fish is not kept correctly, but wrapped in those blue paper towels they sell at Costco and in plastic bags.

Service was okay.

Back again November 2023 and OMG so amazing. Just had the best Texican Roll. Amazing service, great food and friendly people. This is a must stop for anyone in the area.

Back again June 2023. Back at my favorite sushi restaurant in CDMX. I told them I wanted a very spicy roll and man they did a great job. Stop by here and you will not be disappointed . It is a small restaurant and has great service. Ask for the Texican Roll!

I hesitated about leaving a review because this is one of those hidden gems—an amazing place you almost don’t want anyone to discover. But it would be too selfish to keep it to myself! The service, food, quality, and price were absolutely perfect. Everything was spectacular. We’re big-time sushi lovers with very high standards, and this place truly amazed us. Yeni the chef was incredible, every single thing that we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend!
