Onomura Sushi, nestled in the vibrant Roma neighborhood of Mexico City near the iconic Cibeles Fountain, is a gem for sushi lovers. This restaurant delivers an exceptional dining experience with its fresh, expertly crafted sushi. The rainbow roll, bursting with vibrant flavors and a colorful array of fish, is a standout, while the dragon roll impresses with its perfect balance of creamy avocado and crispy tempura shrimp. Each dish is a testament to the chef’s skill, blending traditional techniques with creative flair. The service at Onomura is commendable—attentive yet unobtrusive, ensuring you feel cared for without being overwhelmed. The staff’s warmth enhances the welcoming atmosphere, making it ideal for both intimate dinners and casual outings. Recently, the addition of outdoor seating has elevated the experience, offering stunning views of the Cibeles Fountain, especially enchanting at night when the area buzzes with energy, particularly on weekends. Desserts are a good too, with the lotus cake—a delightful ice cream cake-like treat—stealing the show with its unique texture and subtle sweetness. After dinner, the lively bar across the street beckons for a nightcap. Onomura Sushi combines great food, thoughtful service, and a prime location, making it a must-visit in CDMX’s dynamic culinary scene. They have other locations in the city, but this is...
Read moreWhen we were in an uber and passed this place during our trip here, I was already incredibly intrigued by the sign and the outside appearance. The next day after, our group actually ended up going and we are all extremely impressed! The service from hostess to server to all the other employees was on point. They are proactive, thoughtful, aware, hospitable, and very patient. Shout out to Simon for the amazing service especially!!
The food and drinks here are delicious and the menu has great variety and options. During our trip, our favorites were definitely the miso black cod, the ikura nigiri, the uni nigiri, the rib eye black stone experience (it’s so cool and comes out in a fiery pot!), the King Kong roll, and the mille-feuille dessert. Seriously, the quality of the seafood here tastes really fresh. I also really enjoyed the Unicornio cocktail and can tell they know how to make good drinks here as well.
This is a really wonderful spot to try if you’re craving Japanese food in Mexico City and it’s really cool since they incorporate some Mexican elements into some of their menu items too (e.g., they have 2 taco items and they include mezcal in a few of their cocktails).
Highly recommend and will be back the next time I’m back in this...
Read moreWe attended the tuna cut event and the only decent thing in this place is the food. In regard to all else is not worth it. I will start with the most annoying thing which was the music too loud and completely obnoxious, think of knight rider theme song over and over in an infinite loop. No music at all will be a lot better.
The quality of the food varies among plates and even in the same plate the thickness of the cuts are inconsistent. Some dishes were good and flavorful and they never refused to honor their word of serving as many dishes as you desired, at the time of my visit there were only 6 dishes and a miso soup, the miso soup tasted as a good quality one, no complains on the soup.
Finally the service leave a lot to desire, first I ask for the drink menu never receive one, that alone is bad enough to detract a star from the rating, of course drinks are not included on the tuna cut event (they provide a courtesy drink in our case was a mezcal on fruit punch, it was ok) we order "agua de piedra" for $150 pesos and water was provided on request for free, but the glasses smell strange. The delay in between dishes was tiresome, 20 or more minutes per plate. The first dish was served 50 minutes after we arrived on the time we reserved. It wasn't anything personal against us, the service was very slow. At the end our waiter ask for a mandatory 10% gratitude I find it rude to be mandatory, but I did not detract any rating for that. The waiters deserve some respect.
In summary I WOLD NOT RECOMMENDED this venue, if I knew in advance that it was a vulgar place with very slow service I would skip it completely.
