The dining experience was one of the best I have ever had. I walked in without a reservation since it was a last minute decision to eat here because of the great reviews. I asked if they could seat me and my spouse, they were able to find us a table which I was grateful for. The restaurant space is amazing with a live tree growing on the back wall and plants everywhere. Lighting was good and the over atmosphere made the experience just that much more.
Our server was Lisa. She was so great! Friendly and knowledgeable to the menu. She provided the perfect amount of service. She was always there when needed, but never did I feel like she was hovering. My water was always filled and she inquired after each plate, how it was and how did we enjoy it.
We started with the Prosciutto from Parma Italy. It was presented like a flower with an amazing sauce at the bottom. It looked like a flower, to pretty to eat. Next was the in house made Italian Sausage. It was cooked to perfection with little pieces of chicharrones chips. After this was the octopus. This was mixed with a white sauce. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the sauce complimented it well. We had the Focaccia homemade bread as well. For Dinner we had Vincissgrassi which was individual lasagna rolled and topped with sauce and the Tonnarelli Cacio E Pepe which was a pasta with a simple sauce which was mixed by one of the staff in front of me. Both were amazing and just as good as any pasta I have eaten in Italy. For dessert we finished with a shared a cake with cream. The entire dinning experience was amazing and delicious.
After the meal we were invited to the kitchen to meet the chef! Chef Mateo is from Italy and he has a new vision for innovative Italian food that is more than pizza and red sauce. He explained his kitchen which has a cold station, hot station, a station with a kamado bbq and small grill, and an oven. There is a store attached that he took us to and talked to us about his culinary journey from Italy other countries to finally how he ended up in Mexico City. Another one of his partners came in and she introduced herself and talked about the space. If you want a great experience please eat here you will not be disappointed. I have traveled the world visiting more than 30 countries and this meal and experience is one of the best I...
Read moreThe newest Italian hotspot in Colonia Juárez offers an inviting ambiance and decent service, but the food fell short of expectations. Arriving on a Saturday evening without a reservation, we were greeted warmly by the hostesses and asked to wait about 10 minutes. We were eventually seated at a cramped table near the restaurant’s entrance, which felt a bit forced given the limited space.
Our server promptly took drink orders, and I opted for an Aperol Spritz. Unfortunately, it was watered down and mediocre. For starters, we ordered the Salad Pasticcio, which sounded promising with its mashed carrot sauce. However, when the salad arrived, the sauce was barely noticeable, and the dish overall lacked flavor.
For the main course, we shared the Gorgonzola and Pear Gnocchi alongside the Fregnacce Abruzzesi (a green pasta with ragù). Both dishes had beautiful presentations, but the flavors were inconsistent. The fregnacce had an intriguing texture, but something felt off with the overall taste. The gnocchi was slightly better, though still underwhelming. The “pear” component looked more like green grapes, which was unexpected and was just okay.
The tiramisu, unfortunately, ended the meal on a low note. While its modern presentation was visually appealing, the taste was bitter, unsweetened, and lacked the classic balance of flavors one expects from a tiramisu. It was the most disappointing dish of the evening.
Service, on the other hand, was attentive and friendly. The staff checked in regularly to ensure we were doing well. The restaurant’s atmosphere was the highlight of the experience. The decor, architecture, and music created a fantastic vibe, and watching fresh pasta being prepared in the small boutique shop added charm. However, placing new silverware directly on the bare table (without tablecloths) felt unhygienic and was an unpleasant detail.
Prices were elevated for the most part (especially with the pastas). While the setting and service were decent, the food did not live up to the hype, which left me a bit disappointed with my...
Read moreFor atmosphere and service: I came at around 7pm alone, and the restaurant was at 30% capacity or so. They told me they only had the bar available (there were many 2 seat/4seat tables empty), and seated me right next to a couple that was fairly loud, which was not super enjoyable... there were 5 empty seats next to me (and i asked if i could sit at least one away), but they said they were not available either. When i was done with dinner, the restaurant looked just as busy as when i came, and the seats next to me at the bar hadn't been occupied... maybe everything else was reserved, but for me it was just a bad look that they could not give me better seating (even though the restaurant did not end up being busy when i left). Normally, a host would give you the option for a better seat and mention something like a window of time you'd have to enjoy your meal. That is why i give 3 for service and 2 for atmosphere, even though the place looked nice and the waiters behind the bar did provide good service.
For the food: I ordered focaccia, eggplant tortelli, and a tiramisu. The focaccia was not focaccia at all. It was sliced bread with some olive oil drizzled on it. The eggplant tortelli were tasty, though I honestly couldn't tell it was eggplant (still enjoyed it). The tiramisu's sponge was too bitter (from the coffee), and the big crunchy bits didn't really belong there.
Had I received better service, I would have definitely come back to try more pastas, but given the poor experience I'd rather...
