Twice ordered to go since our ABB was around the corner. Had edamame starter— exactly how I like it with a little crunch still. Seasoned perfectly. They have a spicy version which I’ll try someday. Twice ordered tuna teriyaki which was out of this world delicious! Lightly grilled, homemade piquant teriyaki sauce with subtlety between salty and sweet. Two charred shishito peppers were a welcome surprise. Two side dishes were wonderfully cooked and nice contrast in flavors. Cooked veggies and white rice completed the meal. Couldn’t have found a more perfect fully rounded meal. So much so that I went back and had it for lunch the next day as part of a progressive meal shared with my compañero. Please visit and you’ll be well taken care of by the delightful and friendly staff. Their menu is substantial and with fresh fish sourced from Baja California (tuna) and Japan. Adorable parklet...

I came to this place because I thought the reviews are great. But honestly the whole experience is not worth a trip.

I ordered sashimi Teishoku (set menu, sashimi entree with soup and side dishes). Fish was good but not impressive. The miso soup had a deadly amount of sodium. The worst part had to be the side dishes. The deep fried oysters smelled incredibly fishy and the batter was soggy and greasy. The potato salad had raw onion. It was bad to my taste but if you enjoy raw onion, you may like this.

Things I do like about Sakanaya is its location. It’s tucked away in a residential neighborhood. It has a cozy vibe. I also like the miso soup has some mushroom in it. But it’s too salty for...

Excellent food, we’ve gone back maybe 4 or 5 times now. Honestly the only way we will eat here again is if we are the only table. The kitchen is SLOW. And I mean slow, as in 30+ minutes for dishes to come out. This time I asked for what is the fastest thing they can get out and they said it was the ceviche with kimchi (fermented, therefore made ahead of time). All they had to do is put it from their fermenting dish and serve it on a plate. And that didn’t come out until after first roll of sushi showed up over 30 minutes late.

Another table of 4 was complaining why their food was taking so long and they were...

Vienes a dejarte llevar.
