Absolutely do not recommend. A lot of people are drawn here by the pretty decor, but don't let the fancy interior design fool you given the subpar food and poor service. This place is all about charging as much as possible and is not at all optimizing for a positive customer experience.
Their dishes are priced extremely high, but with every dish we ordered it was clear that they cut corners. For example the rib eye meat was largely fat and the shrimp tacos were just in large tortillas but with barely any ingredients outside of a couple pieces of shrimp. They also served us 2 baskets of cheese bread which we did not order (the 2nd basket was served even though we hadn't finished the first), and later we see them on our bill where we were charged per basket.
Food aside, the service was mediocre - we felt very rushed with our plates being quickly taken away sometimes with food still there. The waiters were not particularly friendly and when we mentioned that the meat was undercooked, the waiter was defensive saying that someone else took the order rather than focusing on acting on the feedback.
Above all, we were extremely disappointed when we saw that we were overcharged for our bill and they were extremely reluctant and slow to fix it. We felt a strange vibe where they seemed caught off guard and hesitant on how to respond, rather than apologetic and eager to appease us for charging a 57% tip instead of the 15% that we had agreed on. They took around 15 minutes to reverse a charge, which we would've expected was a simple and straightforward solution. It was very unpleasant to see them discuss for 10+ minutes what to do and try to pay us off with cash that was way under the amount...
Read moreOur group of 10 had dinner at Sylvestre on New Year's Eve, where they offer a prix fixe menu for $175 USD per person which included a glass of Moet.
Overall the meal was very disappointing. First course was a choice or two thin soups. I had the caldo con pollo which was the sort of thing you get at a local lunch place in the bario for a few pesos.
Langoustine salad was basic and uninspiring ... just three cold and flavorless shrimps on a bed of greens.
The Entree was the best of the four courses. The beef was not bad but also lacked flavor. The potatoes was the best thing I ate all night. The lamb had better presentation and flavor but I didn't try it.
The desert was horrendous. It was a biscuit house made of shortbread with off cuts of churros and other assorted odds and ends stuffed underneath.
They did bring us a glass of something but we never saw the bottle so can't say if it was Moet.
They were reluctant to split the check which meant that someone would have to pay the $20,000+ tab for the table and then leave us to sort it out.
At this price point, we expected so much more and Sylvestre...
Read moreWent recently and had an amazing experience that I had to go back! First time around, ordered Provoleta (cheese) and it was better than at a nearby big Argentine restaurant. Also ordered Entraña (both times) and it was absolutely amazing, again better than at close by restaurants also known for meat. I was genuinely REALLY impressed on my second visit because I ordered Artichoke, that comes with a sauce that contains gluten (has soy), I mentioned to the waiter that I am gluten free and he comes back and prepares a new batch of the sauce without soy at our table. Our waiter’s name was Daniel V, I HIGHLY recommend him if you ever go and want that extra touch of attention/ service, especially if you are concerned about any allergens as he was very knowledgeable about the ingredients in each plate! Generally, allergies are not listed on Menus, but he made sure to be helpful! The restaurant also gives a bread that is made from...
