The only reason I’m rating this place five stars is because TEN STARS isn’t an option! My husband and I live in Chicago, but we come to Polanco, CDMX two or three times a year, and we never miss a chance to spend at least one day in and round the high street. This trip (January 2024) was capped off by THE most unexpectedly awesome supper here at Butcher & Sons!
My husband ordered the “Bowie” burger, and I had the “Yorke” as I’m a devout vegan. Both were absolutely excellent and I mean EXCELLENT! But oddly enough… the true rock stars of the meal actually were the CHIPS!!!
My beautiful people I am telling you: the French fries they serve at Butcher & Sons are without question THE best we’ve ever had in our entire lives. But wait! There’s more!
When you’re first seated, the amazingly attentive but totally unobtrusive servers bring to your table a trio of bottles of salsas that will change your life and make your palate thank you for being alive!!!!!!! The curry catsup is so indescribably delicious we ordered THREE bottles to take home!
The service is absolutely unparalleled and the charming manager Rodrigo is your brother from another mother. He and his dog Pinky — a chihuahua mix he and his wife rescued — are the true salt of the earth, and Rodrigo’s heartfelt humour and effortless kindness are what makes the difference between a good night and an unforgettable one.
If you plan to travel to CDMX… do yourself a favour and do NOT skip a trip to Butcher...
Read moreBest burger I've ever had in my life. Going to new swanky/artisanal burger joints in the states for lunch with friends is my thing. I have never had a burger this good before.
I got the original burger topped only with bacon & lettuce and it was hands down the best burger I ever had in life (I also added some of their non-spicy house ketchup). Bun got a little soggy on the bottom in the middle from the juices, but that small shortcoming was overwhelmed by the taste of this burger (and the value).
Got wings as an appetizer, they were a little overdressed and oversweet.
The atmosphere was great too. Good service. Went on a Wednesday night. The waiter was attentive. Thankfully no one was smoking around us (this was not the case at most restaurants for my two weeks in cdmx). As a new yorker, I take the smoke-free aspect of my city for granted.
There was a lot of traffic driving past, but that did not take away from the...
Read moreFirst I will say we came here for lunch on a Sunday, so the place was very crowded, however, it seemed like they weren't well organized because even though we sat down before 2 other tables, the waiters kept skipping us, our order was really delayed, then the food arrived cold... Then they didn't pay attention to us or the fact that our empty plates were on our table for 20+ min. The manager walked by us so many times, looked, and didn't say anything to the waiters. It was hard to get their attention ourselves because they simply kept walking by without looking. I do think the place is a great spot with a high potential, but they definitely do need to step up their service game!
Also it's very dog friendly, they even have a...
