The best ramen in Mexico City, hands down. After trying numerous ramen spots in the city, I finally stumbled upon Mei, and it is just delicious. There is usually a wait (10-15 minutes) to be seated, with seating both outside and inside (though inside can be very warm due to the kitchen). The ramen is spectacular, and the broth, which is my favorite part of any ramen, is perfection.
I ordered the Hakata Red Tonkotsu, a creamier, spicy broth that has to be one of the best ramens I have ever tried. The noodles are served generously, and I usually get full without needing to order extra noodles. Since this is a vegan restaurant, there is an interesting take on orange chicken which is alright, I found it to be a bit hard and chewy though, but a great attempt. Service is great, though sometimes a bit slow to take orders or to pay, but the staff is very kind.
They also have a loyalty card, which is great for collecting stamps and earning a free ramen after a number of visits. Vegan Ramen Mei has a special place in my heart, and I am so glad I found ramen as...
Read moreOk so this place has a great ambiance and service close to our apartment in la Condesa. They have a promotion for two ramen with some chicken and rice for 400 MXN. Very hard to find a place that has outdoor seatings for us to enjoy with our Bella and doesn’t frown upon service dogs. The neighbor of La Condesa is a retreat within itself because it is so tranquil and lush like a rainforest but in the heart of Mexico City!🌆 I’m am blown away by the peace and charm such a vibrant part of Mexico City can be! So back to the food, amazing 🤩. The ramen was on point with the right toppings like the soft boiled eggs and veggies. The broth was exceptional and delicious. The chicken and white rice have some flavors that don’t seem typical of other Asian restaurants. I hope this business doesn’t use the excuse of cost of living going up to gouge their prices so people can keep coming back to such an amazing set up they...
Read moreI have to update my review and warn that I got food poisoning 2x after eating here in early 2024. I was about to try it again and then I saw reviews of people saying they got ill here too, and now I know for sure it was the orange chicken. Something is just off about it. I go to restaurants trusting that they are keeping proper hygiene. In Mexico it is such an issue. Sigh*
This has been my best meal in CDMX the entire week I've been here. I've eaten here 2x in 3 days. I mean this in regards to price, quality and quantity. Big portions + delicious ramen + great price = happy customers! They have this equation down! I fell in love with ramen on my trip to Tokyo in 2016 so I really appreciate delicious ramen.
The ginger drink was excellent, the black ramen was perfect, and the orange chicken was to die for.
Thank you so much for opening up a quality restaurant in CDMX. I appreciate you! Will...
