Wow, color me impressed. I went here a few years ago and boy have they upgraded. I usually start with the food, but their terrace really is something special in a city with one every 100 feet. People have mentioned the jaw-dropping view (I really must go back at night to see Santo Domingo lit up under a starry sky), but it’s more than that. This place has the serenity of looking down on the city from an eagle’s nest. No loud thumping music, no crowded tables, limited alcohol menu leaning on the sip-and-chat side of the spectrum. No 24 beers for price of 12 (yeah, I’ve seen that) specials.
I’m going to come back before closing, order a glass of wine, curl up with a good phone and take it all in.
Now, the food. I had an excellent frappe and the baguette del Valle which has a bunch of standard Oaxacan ingredients like quesillo, chile de agua and tasajo. It was very good. Clearly quality ingredients. I had them sub out the salad for papas bravas and they were expertly spiced and cooked.

Read moreWe had a really disappointing experience with how the kitchen and our server handled a severe nut allergy here. We were very clear that my brother could not eat peanuts specifically and that it was very serious. The server seemed to understand and even substituted potatoes for a salad because he believed there were nuts in the salad. However the potatoes he substituted came with Chile oil that contained peanuts. My brother tried the Chile oil and knew right away so we ran downstairs to ask the kitchen who confirmed and then had to rush to the hospital. Overall, the view and food is nice, but don’t come here if you have any food restrictions...
Read moreGreat little out of the way place. Very neat and clean and the staff were super polite with my lack of Spanish. I ordered a green something smoothie, thinking it was probably green veggies and such given the other healthy choices. Surprise! I’d ordered a pistachio smoothie and when they brought it out....well, see for yourself! I just laughed at how impossibly colossal it towered above the tall glass! It was delicious! Rich, smooth, a little grainy and a taste of real pistachio. The only problem was it was so cold it froze my throat!! HA! What a hidden gem!...
